Personally, if I were the owners, that's what I would do. The amount of fuss (and therefore money) on a genealogy site that's caused by chat is not worth it's upkeep.

I understand what you are saying lynda and SRS, but for some the chat boards are a lifeline to the outside world, and they would be missed terribly.

There are lots of lovely people that post on here with lots of interesting facts, tips etc..........or just want to share their good news, sad news etc.

I consider myself lucky in the fact that i have family at home and extended family a few mins away plus work to keep me occupied. There must be a lot of people that use Chat and General who are alone with time on their hands, and look forward to reading and paticipating in the posts.

i think the ones that use mulitple accounts that cause all the aggro should just get banned straight away .. And so should people that use foul language
more than once , they should get banned too ..
cant wait to see what the new owners will do with this site

If that happens, I'll be off. I find Ancestry a much better site for serious genaeology, but I like the crack on here.

Well the whole chat board confuses me, although i like to read most peoples posts as I have done for years.

What i dont understand is how people know so much about other board users to get in the situations they have tonight, I really dont understand it all..........are we all who we say we are behind our keyboards!!

Still say it will be missed by many should they decide to incinerate!!
