What no on the dial do you usually have your shower? I ask because I can only just stand the heat at 6, but OH will turn it up to 8, and I think this is too hot. He doesnt have much feeling in his skin, and I worry that he will harm himself.

I have it at 8, my son comes home and turns it up higher, I do have to watch it if he has been in the shower.

l start with 6 - 7 as its usually too hot to start with, wait a while then it gets abit colder, so l then turn it to about 7 - 8. Ours is messing about abit though!!

You funny auslanders. Your water taps have numbers on them? Are they the same as the numbers on your ovens - gas mark 4 and all that? ;)

Ours just turn until you get them where you want them. Unless you have one of those newfangled single-unit things, with levers or tilty dials, which I hate and refuse to figure out. -- Hmm, I guess those are the sorts of things you're talking about, or the numbers wouldn't make any sense!

Of course, my shower stall has the hot and cold taps in reverse order, so I shouldn't talk about anybody else's quirks ...

For me, hot as it comes. In my experience, men are total wimps about hot showers. Also about swimming in cold water, being too cold in winter and too hot in summer ... little sensitive souls with little narrow spectrums of acceptable temperatures for every little thing.)


So your male person Jean - actually, I would be a little concerned. It isn't necessarily the water temp itself, it's whether he can gauge how long he's been exposed to it for example. I might actually ask a doctor type person. (Having the diabetic in the house myself, I can understand worrying about such things.)

Thank you Janey, glad you can see why I am concerned. He comes out looking like beetroot sometimes and gets palpitations.

People do overdo hot water. I've done it in hot tubs at hotels. It just didn't feel that hot while we were in it so of course I disregarded the time limit warnings, but one time I was sick (nauseous and lousy feeling) all night from staying in too long. They tell pregnant women not to do that for a reason!

So if he's not "feeling the heat", he might be doing more than just risking skin damage, and I really would ask. Meanwhile, make sure he drinks a good amount of water when he does that. ;)
