I am sort of new to the message boards and didn't really understand how they worked - getting the hang of it now.

Just a thought. Last year through the 1911 census I found my late FIL listed as an inmate at Horfield Barracks in Bristol. The Records office in Bristol and Bristol Historical society were not able to help. They both told me Horfield Barracks was only a military establishment. This didn't help as my FIL was listed as 7 years old! Eventually I found out he was actually at Mullers Orphange. The census collector ha d mistakenly thought the two buildings were all the same place. Mullers had admission dates and correspondence which they copied for me. Is this info useful to anyone else?

Margaret, that must have been interesting for you to find out, I am sure others will find it of interest too so do leave this up but nudge it during the day if you can so people see it. If there is a better board for it to be on, I am sure someone will let you know.

It was just an afterthought to mention Horfield Barracks as Bristol records office told me that other people had queried itwith them and they had not been able to help.

Hopefully Bristol records office will have taken a note of the info. you have passed to them and will be able to help people in the future.
