Well at least it wasn't me being a complete moron and randomly clicking on "new search" or something!

Just go back, click on "old search" in the upper right on any page, and it will set you right for the whole site.

Frightening experience that was, I have to say. ;)

Mine was the same earlier, I haven't been back to look because I can't bear it lol

Ignore me! I think.

Somehow, Ancestry seems to have flipped me (everywhere I was, every tab I had open), to flipping NEW SEARCH, the most useless piece of garbage ever flung.

Yes! I have successfully converted them all back to OLD SEARCH - censuses, BMDs, all of it.

And when I get the robot reply from Ancestry to the very pointed message I sent, I'll ignore it. ;)

Sounds as if it is something else for us to 'look forward to' (not) at some point :(

Mind you, the idea of being told how many records there are which fit the parameters is quite appealing; it gives one the chance to change the criteria or give up and put the kettle on!

It has now spread to the entire site ... censuses ...

Thank dog I have Adblock, anyway. No ads, and I eliminate all the moronic graphics that take up room on the page, but it's still not enough.

UK.

I've tried both marriages and deaths 1916-2005. They're both totally &%$#ed up.

Here's the best part. Now, in order to "refine" or change the search parameters, you have to click to a whole new page. The search form is no longer at the bottom of the search results list.

Oh, and that opens a popup. What fun.

One tiny good thing -- the popup search form has moved the "If searching for marriages before 1916, please click here" link to the bottom, so now I won't be constantly hitting Enter to submit a search before I've tabbed my way past the stupid link.

This is *not* by any means enough to make up for this new horrorshow.

It was not broke. And again they have fixed it. I've reminded them of what happened when they eliminated the user content from the censuses ...

"We are presently experiencing a high volume of emails and will do our best to respond within 24 business hours. "

If you aren't seeing it now, they must be phasing it in somehow ...

Is that .com, or .co.uk?

Dot co.uk, seems the same as usual.

So there I am, smack in the middle of a post-1916 deaths search. I click to move on to page 4 or 5 or something of the results, 50 items per page ... and I get some weirdness about how many results there are; I don't want to know how many resutlts, I want to see the results.

I backpage, I click "next" again, and this time the weirdness is fleshed out. I get my results list, all right. Along with a whole load of crud I do not want down the side, and double-sized font, so now each thing in the list takes up 4 times as much space as it did before ...

So I backspace to where I was on the previous page, and refresh, and sure enough, it reloads in this bizarre new format. Not only that, but it tells me there are only 77 results where once they were infinite.

It is giving me "exact" results. I do not want exact results!

What fresh stupidity and ignorance and abuse of the paying customers is Ancestry up to now??
