If you go to this thread

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=950030

-- the easy way is just to change the "1212064" in the address line up at the top of your screen to "950030" and hit the Enter key -- you can read all about adding postems to FreeBMD. It sounds complicated when you first read about it but once you've done it, it's pie.

Read through the thread, there are various tips and explanations.

Adding a postem means you can put the certificate information on record at FreeBMD so that others searching for the names can see what you have added. Only a short postem is allowed - but you can add as many as you like to a single record. You can include an email address so that if someone would like to have the certificate they can contact you.

Hi Sylvia - Thank you for this it's a great idea which I did not know about. I have also made several searches on the 1911 census which are not my family, sometimes I have to make a guess with common names and only find the correct family after a few tries. Best regards - Viv

Hi Vivien,

Why not add a postem to the entry on Freebmd giving the details and offering the certificate. It may stop others buying the wrong certificate.
