Both my great grandparents were in service in the same street 2 doors away from each other in the 1911 census. They married in march 1912. Is there any way of being able to findout how long people in private employment were actually employed for ie .. 2yrs 3yrs and so on. Would hopefully give me an idea of how long they may of known each other before actually getting wed. They had a child in 1912 so i can guess why they wed rather quickly |

Hi Mark, I don't about times of contract,but I have been looking at a site that tells you what the average wage was for different workers over the centuries. |
