hi everyone. thanks for your answers. still bamboozled though lol. i tried to just add her siblings, but the only way i could see, had them listed as children of her adoptive parents. lol
starting another tree seems like the only way, i suppose.'thanks, therese

I am adopted and my Uncle Calvert (adopted uncle) did a family tree and just added me and my sister with no mention of being adopted.We were just family.

My grandparents are first cousins - so my tree looks damn stupid on here. But I had no problem with it in other programmes and one day I will gedcom it back to here. It will then show up correctly and my great grandmother can be back with her brothers. I resent the double entries - had enough of that as an Accountant.

Therese, Hi there. GR will tell you if you wish to show adoptions in your tree you need to do two trees and show the person twice. Pain in the proverbial. You will also have a similar problem on another web site with showing adoptions in family trees.

I have shown my adopted person twice. Once with his adoptive parents and once with his birth name. Then written a detailed note which is accessible to anyone who looks at the tree.

You will also find a similar problem with first cousins marrying. The GR tree structure does not support this very well either. In my case I have a tree branch hanging off in one place and the connecting line elsewhere.

I do not have an answer to your problem except to let you know it does exist and I too would be interested if any person out there has managed a fix.

I don't think we've spoken before, hi I'm Shimms, extends hand of friendship.

Searching for quite a few half-siblings who were adopted I found one half-sister and met her. :)) We've both shared trees (that is, until GR lost mine) and added each other + families. Hope that helps.

We are not much help are we.

We have one that was born to one daughter and then adopted by her sister. In some trees she is with the biological mother and others with the one who brought her up. Trouble is she also goes by either surname even - when she was grown up and married herself.
Confusing isn't it.
I think I would just add her siblings to her and branch out from there.
