Just had a thought!! Did you get in touch with Trading standards. They will know if you can claim.Trouble is,will the person you bought it from still be there or has he done a bunk?Sounds dodgy to me.Ask for advice before doing anything. |

Just talking to OH about this and he said, did you inform the police as he'd seen on TV that a lot of caravans had been stolen and they were chasing up leads to find the travellers who were selling them.I do think the police should be told.Pity you scrapped it as it usually takes an independant assessor to see the damage.Explain everything to CAB and see what they advise. |

The advice we were given, was to write to the person concerned saying that unless they refunded within 28 days of the date of the letter, we would be taking them to the Small Claims Court and would be adding the court costs and interest of X% to the amount claimed. Then send the letter by recorded/signed for delivery. |

Pusscat, you should be able to go to the CAB or your local court, ask at the desk ,they will give you the information you require, and cost, then proceed as you wish. Its not an open court,it quite civilised and private, but consider what was said earlier, would it be worth it? also go and see a restorer and get a Quote for putting the Van right, Either way you can tell the court the cost of repair ,or ,have it done. Take care., **M**. |

I agree with Muffy, you really need to speak to the CAB first, they will give you the legal advice you need to see if it's worth going through the small claims courts. |
