Talk to people first, locally, and get their take on it, they will probably help you to word it and set it up...and any letters to the papers and things like that. dont' do it on your own, talk to the carers first and any relatives if you know them

Trouble is, councils don't get enough funding to keep some things running, and care homes are often the first things to be cut because they take such a massive amount of the budget, which is set by government. It's not necessarily the council to blame for closing it to be honest with you.

But, publicise it in every way possible, newspapers, twitter, facebook, anywhere...and pull people in...and see if anyone is forming a committee locally to make a move against closure. Speak to the carers, they would know about that I would think.

Good luck with it, and I'll add my name to it if you get it on facebook. xx

recently my mum was put into a care home called huntingdon court.the one thing we worried about this was after seeing other care homes [private]we had concerns .as it turned out its exceptional.its clean and smells lovely ,the staff are 100% .the food again 100%.mum is as safe as she can be .which from my point of view is such a relief.ok well whats my problem you ask ,there closing it down .the home is council run .and it looks like its all cut and dried .
mums got cancer and dementia and we have been told by the doctor a year max ,that was from last october ,so i doubt mum will be here when they close the home.
my gripe is .when i pay my council tax and my normal tax to close something thats so well run and a success ,the council decide they dont want it.ive been told that most councils have passed the buck so to speak.why should they .they take our money quite happily god knows what for but they do.someone suggested to do a facebook page in support of huntingdon court.i like that idea .not that the council will change there minds ,but in support of the carers who work so hard ,there like the unsung heros.they make the home what it is .and the council i feel deserve to be shamed .
can i have your input.any thoughts would be welcome .thanks guys and girlies.xxx
