I would get myself a new computer as this one is knackered, a few bits of new furniture and bank the rest.
Oh, treat my old mate who has been good to me over the past few years.

pay off any debts and have a breather. probably get a new car also as much as our car has done us well it's too low for a lot of the roads around here. If there was anything left who knows I may even take a trip back to the UK (as long as it was summer). It would definately be spent on me and OH though. (great thing about having no children) .

£10k isn't a lot these days, but if I came into it suddenly, any outstanding debts would be paid, and straight away I'd put it into deposit and rent to move us out of this flat into a place where we have more control over our heating...and maybe slightly more modern lol.

The grandchildren would get a treat, and my mum would get her week in Ireland, a place she's never been but would love to see.

So I guess I'd probably blow the lot, but not really on anything frivolous.

First I'd use it on any outstanding debts, then it would be for any essential home improvements or car repairs needed at the time.

Then if any remained, it would go towards a family holiday for us all to enjoy.

If the money came to us in a couple of years, then I would imagine the bulk would see our son through college or uni

I would spend half of it on another holiday back to the UK,to catch up on seeing the places I missed out on last time, and spend the rest on boring things like debts, and putting some aside for a rainy day.

$20,000 wouldn't go very far,though-I could do a lot more with one million dollars-not being greedy,LOL!!!

A week in London so that I could go to the LMA etc. plus some of the places on my list, and not have to worry about getting to the train on time...The rest would go into pension pot, or spent on the house, or a break somewhere nice.

Finish my half done kitchen.... and my half done bedroom... and the rest, if any, would be squandered on me and hubby... we have supported our sons well into their mid 30's, hence the half completed projects (plus my illness, lol) and it is now our turn.

As RB said... if it was 10 million, that is a different story entirely... I have 7 siblings, 2 sons, 2 grandsons, (no I don't, I have two granddaughters, lol, I was thinking of my sister's grandsons there!!) and my parents..... and 21 nieces and nephews, 4 grt nieces and nephews.... so it will be well utilised.

But I would donate some to Leukaemia Research... and to MacMillan.... plus NCH, British Red Cross, and The Salvation Army.

And my main project would be very controversial... some might even call it controlling..... A Mother and Baby home with a difference.... like, one with rules, lolol

Love

Daff xxxx

ps.... not blaming the illness on our sons, lol.... just the half finished projects... their need seemed greater than ours at the time, and then I couldn't have all the mess...

Oh.... and I would have a HUGE Party........ I like parties.... xxxx

Rambling

Rambling Report 29 Mar 2010 10:17

with 10k I would 'breathe' again for a little while...it would be enough to re-assure me I could have this roof over my head for the next year, basically 'buy me time' to recoup my losses lol.

If however I had enough in the bank already ( oh unlikely supposition!) I would put a large part of it in my son's account, towards 'start up ' costs for whatever business he might decide to go into when old enough.

I'd spend maybe a small amount of it on boring things we've needed to get done for ages but haven't got round to...new hob...new microwave..sorting out the front garden etc...I'd put some away for Christmas pressies for the girls so we'd have a stress free Christmas....treat my Mum and Dad to something nice...have a nice meal out ..on me with my friends...buy OH whatever gadget he's after..there's bound to be something lol....and put the remainder away under my bed under lock and key for emergencies xx

**oops forgot...I'd also buy myself a bottle of Cheteau neuf du pappe....YUM x
