Men live longer thanks to nagging wives

Next time your man tells you off for nagging, remind him that it could one day save his life.

According to researchers, married men live longer because their wives persuade them to go to the GP.

Married men were six per cent more likely to go to the doctor than single men according to a study by The Royal Economic Society, which also revealed that men and women in committed relationships are more likely to do more regular exercise, adding years to their lives.

Being in a settled relationship meant women were 34 per cent more likely to keep fit, whereas men were 20 per cent more likely to go out for a run once a week (perhaps to escape the nagging?)

Women it seems are much more health conscious and are just as likely to go to the docs for a check up whether single or married.

Lead researcher Hendrik Schmitz, of Germany's Ruhr Graduate School in Economics, said: "If a woman goes to the doctor, the likelihood of her partner also visiting the doctor increases by six percentage points.

"But if the man visits the doctor, this does not seem to affect the woman's behaviour. An individual who is in a relationship usually wants the partner in good health because they care for them."

So go ahead - nag him to make that doc's appointment. He might just thank you for it in the end.

Hey, this brought the men out lol except for our Huia and yes I am going to leave him to it now, especially at the pre wedding do and the reception, not going to suggest another drink isn't a good idea, I am going to let him drink himself silly and show his family up lol If it reacts with his medication, it will be his responsibility not mine!
I won't risk a mouthful of abuse later or such, and the fiancee and her family can see him at his worst!

Mo, what have I started lol will there be an epidemic of o.h.s suddenly falling really ill cos their partners haven't nagged them to seek medical advice lol

I am not sure I want to be held responsible for everyone's worse half falling ill or worse/better lol.
