Can anyone recommend a good free cookie cleaner. How do they work & will it mean I can get logged onto internet quicker?

Will it delete all cookies or can I choose to keep ones from frequently used sites.

It has just taken me 10 mins to load home internet page. When I looked at Windows Task Manager Processes tab there are loads of .exe files (most of which I don't recognise) Is this what is slowing things down & will a cookie cleaner solve this problem.

Any expert help much appreciated.

Little one now wants on the PC so will call back later

If your internet is slow to connect, it could be a simple case of performing disk cleanup, which you can find in Start - programs - accessories - system tools. That will clean up all your temporary files and speed things up a bit.

You can also delete cookies by opening Internet Explorer, or whatever browser you are using to view this page right now, click on tools, Internet options and in general tab, click on delete browsing history. But before you do, make sure you know all your passwords, as any you have asked to remember you, won't any more until you log in again.

Have you run a virus check? .exe files could mean trojans, worms or viruses so make sure you run that to clear things.

Other than that, Lavasoft.com do a free program called Adaware which will quaratine and remove any tracking cookies, which are basically harmless cookies picked up when you visit sites.

A good and fast cleaner for removing temporary internet files is Ccleaner.

You can choose which cookies to keep so you don't have to sign in to your sites.

"Answers that work"
its a free to view site, BUT there IS a facility to buy a program to help cleanup your machine.

they have lists of most programs, what they do, and if they are really necessary, and MOST of all,
If they are potential virus's or trojans.
