Hi, my grandfather was called Lawrence Jennings. He died in 1973. I can't find his death on any documents or his marriage to Marion Baxter-Smallwood. I would like to find information out about his parents and grandparents how do i do this without his date of birth or any info on him . thank you for your time and help x

Do you know how old he was when he died (from hearsay?)

no wonder i couldnt find it!! was looking for Marion and Ancestry has dropped the Baxter in their birth transcript

just out of curiosity I have scanned through the B indexes and she is listed as well as Baxter-Smallwood Marian but Ancestry doesnt like it when doing a search and doesnt find her under that.
Thought i was going a bit doo dally !!

I think this may be Marian's death reference but it doesn't help much. I am wondering if Marian had been married before as I can't find a suitable Jennings marriage. Even finding Laurellee's birth and trying to work backwards hasn't helped.

Thank you everyone for all your research and responses. I am new at this. Marian was born in febuary so why does it show up on such late records. She married Lawrence Jennings i think in 1946/47. they had a daughter called Jennifer Lorraine Jennings who is my mother. She died in male in the maldives on holiday with me and i can't find records of her death either. If people die or get married overseas does that not sure up on records? My mother was born in Berlin 23.2.47. sorry so many questions. How do I start researching back from my grandparents ??

he was in his 50's. He lived in Shenfield essex. I think it was in 1973.

If she got married abroad Berlin would that not show up? Her daughter was born 1947 in Berlin and i know it was a hasty marriage due to pregnancy. They worked in Berlin?

Marian and Lawrence had two children Jennifer Lorraine Jennings and later a son called Neil Barry Jennings. Not sure of the age gap maybe 3 years?

If your mum was born in Berlin then its possible thats why we cant find any marriage as Marian and Lawrence may have married there too.
You could try Consular or Military records on Find My Past. Was Lawrence in the Forces ,if so the marriage is probably in the Forces indices on that site
EDIT:crossed with your posting re the marriage . you should look on the Consular Records on Find My Past . Its a pay to view site but I dont have subs for it.

with regard to Marians birth reg well you have 6 weeks to register a birth so she was most likely reg early April which comes under the June quarter. if you get the cert it will give you her details and her parents
Still cant find a death for lawrence though

I paid to join find my past and the strangest thing I cant find my others birth Jennifer Lorraine Jennings 23.2.47 berlin or my grandmothers and grandfathers marriage. Marian Baxter Smallwood and Lawrence Jennings. WEIRD!

Laurellee you would need to buy the cert from the GRO with the ref given for the info on her parents. When you order you need to specify its an overseas birth
