Have I missed something?

I have just had a reminder from GR regarding my renewal.

Does anyone know why I am being asked to pay the same for a 6 month sub as I paid for 12 months last year?

Have sent a message to support team asking for explanation.
Has anyone else queried this. It's 100% increase!

The subs have been six-monthly for quite a while Sylvia, except for those longer-term members who began by paying annually. I suppose it would be inevitable they would have to make the annual payers six-monthly in the end.

It could just be an oversight on their part, and a standard email (which they do love to send). You would probably get your annual membership from this anyway.

It'll be interesting to find out what they say by way of explanation though LOL

I just renewed - and it was still $19.95 for a year.

I think it's just their bog-standard reminder email to be honest, and as I said before, they do love to send their standard email, whether or not it applies to a particular question.

Sylvia judging by tour membership number I would say that last time you renewed you should have paid £9.95 for 6 months

I am on an continuous annual membership due for renewal and I have had an email informing me I don't have to do anything....

Your membership to Genes Reunited is about to come to an end.

You don't need to do anything because you've asked us to continue your membership automatically.

We'll renew your membership for £9.50 for 1 year of standard membership on 17th April 2010 using the card you used last time. If we are unable to do this, for example because your card has changed, we'll let you know.

I seem to remember there was a lot of confusion when GR put their prices up and split the types of membership....many sub prices were thrown in to the pot and I ended up with £9.50. If that makes sense.

It could well be that I am having a senior moment ( get quite a few ) and that I have made an error.

May be I have always had 6 monthly and I am getting it confused with the other sites annual term.

I stand corrected if I am wrong and will continue to take the pills.....

Don't take the pills. You are not alone.

My membership was for 12 months when I signed up 14 months ago. When they renewed it, it was for the same amount of money but for six months.

I queried it and was told that all renewals would now be for six months. I still have their reply. Will go find it and post it here.

I am a standard member.

Hi Joan, I've just had my gold membership renewed and it cost £34.95 for 6 months. I was puzzled when I read all the different ammounts charged.

Surely they're not treating us foreigners differently? I'm okay because I subscribe through .co.uk (there being no genesreunited.ca, if you can imagine -- .co.nz, .co.za, .com.au, .com ...). Maybe subscribing through the Oz portal is more expensive??

Janey. You have taught me well and I know the gmail thingy should be there but it just ain't. As the stupid thing is dated 4 Jan 10 I reckon it must have been one of the first I did, prior to your enlightened educational expertise guiding my fledgling efforts.

I did think maybe I started in Outlook and changed to GMail but still no wiser to where the original has stashed itself.

And yes I really think us furriners are charged more. After all the signal has a longer distance to travel!!

Maybe the trick is to register through .co.uk.

I am with .co.nz and was automatically renewed last December for NZ$19.95 for 12 months (if I remember the cost correctly).
