I think you left out Lemon Balls. ;)

I'm going to bring back my thread in a different form later today once some work gets done, but I'll be discreet. It was here last night when I left, gone this morning when I returned -- but nothing in my inbox slapping my hand, so I think somebody just got a review request, sighed deeply and clicked.

Now how could things copied and pasted from Ancestry itself be inappropriate?? ;)

Seeing Janey's earlier thread about the names either given to children or mistranscribed by *A* (!!), I thought some of you may like this for a bit of fun, all taken from the above:

I've decided to invite you all to a meal at my place, so please, come on in and join me.

Draw up a chair, do any of these suit you?
Stout Chair (1846 USA)
Rabbit Chair (1901 USA)
Chin Chair (1903 LA)
maybe this is a bit light for you....Fern Chair (1868 California)

Help yourself to nibbles, here's an
Olive Platter (1868 Middlesex)

Now, we need a table..........ah......
Thursa Table (1850) Cornwall.

Hm....what to cover it with, will this cloth be large enough?
Double Cloth (1849 Montana)

We'll need some cutlery...........this looks pretty:
Rose Cutlery (1891 Mississippi)

I have a choice of forks for you :
Dobbins Fork (1859 Stratford)
Mary Pitch Fork (1848 Nottingham)
Happy Fork (1835 Suffolk)

There is also a selection of knives...
Butcher Knife (1877 S.Dakota)
Guy Dull Knife (1899 S. Dakota)
Jack Knife (1849 New Mexico)
Sharp Knife (1839 Montana)

As for spoons....a little limited perhaps
Wood Spoon (1870 Durham)
T.E. Spoon (1842 Carolina)

Just one set of crockery...
MIdgley Plate (c1815 Yorkshire)

On the menu: ..........must just pop out to the kitchen:
Freda Fridge (1900 NY)

For starters:
Marmaduke Soup (1853 Hackney)
Tom Soup (1867 Hawaii)

Meat Course:
Julien Beef Stake (1789 St. Lucia)
Napoleon Beef (1860 Quebec)
Meberlee Chicken (1872 Tynemouth)

For those with a smaller appetite:
Minnie Chicken (1881 London)

For fish lovers:
Polly Cod (1867 Ontario)
Madoma Haddock (1824 Staffs)
Katty Kipper (1887 Norfolk)

Plenty for our vegetarian friends:
Starling Carrot (1790 USA)
Will I. Leek (1837 Deptford) ????
Patrick Parsnip (1876 Ireland)

For those with a sweet tooth...here is a mouthwatering selection of desserts:
Apple Moon (1854 Gloucs)
Peach Clara (1885 Notts)
Strawberry Tagget (1859 Cornwall)
Lemon Aaron (1870 Russia)
Banana Pointer (1855 Norfolk)
Grape Burnell (1861 Liverpool)

To end this sumptuous feast, you may just have room for:

Minnie Cheese (1884 Alabama)
Walter Crackers (1867 Hull)

So let's end the evening:

Easy Wine (1890 Stepney)

Bon appetite!!

p.s. I thought I would avoid:

Orange Peel (1905 Carolina)
Bacon Rind (1860 Oklahoma)

Ancestry is such fun!!
