A couple of years ago I wanted to get from where I am to my mum's place by going through Peterborough, Ontario, instead of taking the booooring highway 401. Google would not give me directions for that way (there is a hideously complicated stretch of back roads to get through at one end). So I tried asking for directions for from where I am to Peterborough.

Started out fine, getting me to the highway I know quite well how to get to. Then it wanted me to go south, which seemed odd. And then there I was, crossing the US border. Very odd. It kept me going south until I got to Boston.

Aha, I thought. It is taking me to the airport where I will get the cheapest and most direct flight to Peterborough *England*. Haha.

Well, no. It took me to the docks. And the next instruction was:

Swim the Atlantic Ocean to Brest, France.

Then it was just a pleasant drive to Calais, upon reaching which I was directed to swim the channel. There followed directions for driving from Dover to Peterborough.


Seriously! I about died laughing. It almost sounded as if there were some gnome in a cubicle somewhere making it up especially for me. It would never do it again when I tried later, though. :(

Anyhow. Make sure there are towels waiting, I'll be wet!

aw we could have sent micks chopper for ya, but alas! its broken :(
