Like you I react badly to stings,[ all hail great gardener! ] I couldn't find the anti hystamine stuff ,so in desperation I put a large blob of Ibuleve gel on a sting on my neck and it worked.
The pain lessened rapidly and the swelling was minimal,so now it's the first option every time.

Yesterday tea-time, I got stung. No, not on me b*m, but me little finger, and it bl***y well hurt.
Having been a gardener par excellence for years, even if I say so meself, it is the first time I have been stung. I had just planted a couple of heathers in the window boxes on my summerhouse, so that I will have some colour to look at from the kitchen window. I was picking up some debris from around them, when I experienced this funny sensation in me little finger. I looked down at me hand,and nearly fainted, when I saw this creature hanging onto me little finger. I had to come in tute sweet, and sit down, and have a quick snorter of Brandy for the shock. Then I cleaned the offending 'wound'. By then OH had come back from the allotment and got me the anti hystemine cream. As I am allergic to so many things, he wanted me to go to A&E, but I declined. Well, it would make a change going in there, and it not being me bowels. It still tingles abit this mornig.
Many years ago, when I was on the sewing machine, I got me hand abit too close to the needle, and sewed through me finger nail. Someone told me that you were not a good dressmaker until you had sewn through your finger. So, working on this principle, I hope i will be an even better gardener. LOLOL
