Does anyone know if it's possible to look at the 1901 census for free?

No - unless you book a computer at your local library. They will probably have the Library edition of Ancestry subscription. check when you phone.

Another way is to take out a 'free' 14 day trial on either Ancestry or Findmypast. But remember to cancel before the deadline.

If you wanted to start a thread on 'Records' any number of people would be happy to look for you (and send you the image if you asked.)
