you can sign yourself off sick for so many days yhen you can request sick notes for as long as the doctor feels your unfit for work, if your thinking of leaving try and get them to lay you off , or you may well feel you cant go back anyway, you could sign on and recieve job seekers or employment support if you feel unfit for work xxx

Does anyone know anything about the above?

I'm due to go into to hospital soon for a major operation, and could be off work for anything upto 10 weeks, Does anyone know how the statuatory sick pay works? I am also considering leaving my employment, can I do this when off sick and if so how much notice would I have to give? I have been employed by the company for 9 and a half years.

I've tried googling but can't get answers that I can make head nor tail of.
