I must say ....I didn't watch them programmes because I felt it was all to soon..........it must be really horriable for the families : ((

Edit to say .....Ipswich is in my area for the local news , so maybe in the Eastern counties we had more news coverage of the events ? maybe thats why I feel it is a bit soon.....I remember watching it all unfold on the news and it only seems like a couple of years ago .

Amanda, having seen all the news coverage at the time, and knowing how that awful Steve Wright tried to appeal against his sentence, I too thought it was a bit soon to do a drama of the murders. I do hope the way the women were portrayed wasn't too upsetting to the families.

The murderer ran a pub in Norwich for a while, so was known to lots of the local 'girls' here too I think. There were some murdered prostitutes and some missing, never heard of or seen again, that they thought he might have been involved with but I don't know if they disproved everything or if the possibility is still there that he killed more women than has been documented so far.

A lot of the girls did stay home when the murders were happening but for some the need for money for drugs was too strong and they have no other way to earn it, so after a while they go out again.

I think it was done with sensitivity to point most of the girls bar one had children, only 1 girl spoke about her children and how drugs became more important to her than her children was and how they had been adopted.

It seemed like that the mothers of the girls had alot to do with the script as the girls were all portrayed as tarts with hearts trying to get clean, acouple who went out to work the streets to pay for their partners habit as well and were encouraged to do so if not at times begged.

how sad when life is so low for somebody
nobody deserves to die like that
i know a working girl i dont agree with her way of life
but she is one of the kindest people i know
and would give you her last penny
i would be horrified if this had happened to her

It always amazes me how the girls are classed as bad girls But nobody condems the men.

I watched the programme and thought it really gave a different view point to the media coverage at the time.

These girls were all someones daughter, sister, mother which was overllooked in the sensationalised headlines. I read an article before the programmes were aired which said that three of the families had worked with the programme makers. At least it gave those who were most affected by these horrendous crimes a chance to put the record straight.

I was really impressed with the sensitive way the programme was handled and my heart goes out to all the families involved.
