That's interesting Mandy, so it's because it gets sneezed into the air by the dog.. I was thinking as well that if someone couldn't have their dog vaccinated kennels wouldn't accept it if they went on holiday without the dog.
Mel how are your new neighbours who went away while the work on their house was being done getting on with it now? I need to get cracking and make more decisions on the bathroom, but the amount of choice soon brings me to a standstill. Yes I've gone off the dark nights already too! At first round here they switched off some of the lights, but if I get up in the night and look through the window it is pitch dark, so I suspect they are almost all switched off, even on the main road. I'd need a torch to walk up the close.
AnnG you are doing well getting well organised as usual, but you need to have those presents ready ahead for when your son calls as you say.
No Vera, so I hope she hasn't got the bad throat her OH had.
I'm off to bed now. I need to be up early tomorrow to get showered before the window cleaner comes and walks past the open bathroom window. :-0 :-0

Yes Ann we were asked last time we went to the vets if there was anyone with a low immunity and that was the first time they had asked , it was the kennel cough as that's sprayed into the nose and the dog always sneezes after the spray so it goes into the air for you to breath it in .
Mel I don't like the darker nights either but at least we can look out onto street lights but you just have complete darkness ,lovely for you to see all the stars though on a clear night .

Afternoon All,
It was sunny this morning but of course now it is getting dark sooner it is very dull. Things like the cooker with a clock are turned off at the wall now to save electric, but it rights itself when you stwitch it back on. Most of ours adjust themselves, except the one in the lounge and a little travel alarm I use as a backup for the main one. OH also has a little travel alarm to do that he keeps where he works as he can't see the big clock from there. The one I always forget is the one in the car and sometimes drive round for a few days before I remember.
The food order should arrive soon but the salads we usually have for tomorrow are out of stock again and all six of the subs can go back this time. When you order something low fat you hardly want a sub described as 'creamy'. I think we'll have to make a trip to Sainsbury's down the road in the morning.
We didn't get a frost like you Mandy but I must sort my Geraniums too now. There are six I think and I will try them in the garage this year. When OH got home last night he was told something I thought I'd pass on to you. One of the ladies who has a dog had taken him to the vet for a Kennel Cough vaccination. The vet asked if anyone in the house was immuno compromised and she said her husband was as he has rheumatoid arthritis. The vet said he would not be able to give the dog the vaccination in that case. I've looked it up and any risk is small but because that vaccine is a live vaccine it is possible it can infect anyone living with the dog. I'd never heard of it before.
COT next and finish the sock drawer before the food arrives.

Gone cloudy here too and we've had a short shower. Dos'nt the day seem long to you? It does to me.
BIL did'nt stay long he said he was going home to boil his eggs for the week!!!!!! He must take them to work for his lunches.
I remember going fishing when young and we'd go with Uncle Les and his family and Aunty Jean always took boiled eggs in their shells and jars of sliced onion in vinigar oxo cubes to make a hot drink and lots of other stuff. Aunty Jean had four children and we would take a tent and put that up somewhere near where they were fishing and we would have our eats in there. We'd find shrews in the grass or conkers in the season. Catch tiddlers and sticklebacks and put them in jam jars with a string handle. Those were very happy days........

Spent a morning in the garden and got all the Geraniums in the shed along with a trailing Fuschia I had in a hanging basket and two Canas in their pots ,did a bit of cutting back and half filled the garden bin . Now it's just started to rain and gone over very cloudy.

Well you can see what time I was up Mel from my first post this morning, just about the same time as usual, maybe a fraction later but I rarely lie in. I did deliberately go to bed an hour later last night as that seems to sort me out whenever the clocks change for some reason and I slept well too.

Morning girls,
Nice bright morning here with sun and blue sky. BIL came just as I was going in the bathroom so I did'nt let him in and the back door was locked anyway. He is up the top by where he keeps the mowers over Em's dad's place.
I had to go up the shop to post a parcel this morning which I forgot to take with me yesterday and it was just about closing tme for the shop.
I don't have to do any clocks here as I don't have any wind up ones its all on the pc or Echo or the smart meter I don't use the cooker clock as the leccy going out all the time I am always resetting it so I don't bother and the same with the microwave.
Mandy if you've had a frost you had better get your plants in the shed if you want to save them. I still have a geranium outside Iv'e had for over three years so I must bring that in. I brought the fancy one in Iv'e had for 25 years and kept going through cuttings and it needs cuttings taken from it now.
Did you all have a lie in this morning? I had a little one but not long aas I knew I had to get up the shop and it only opens for a couple of hours on a Sunday morning.
Have a great day whatever you're doing today. :-D

Morning Anng, morning all,
4 degrees here and we had a frost ,the shed roof was white this morning so I must get out there and get the Geraniums and my two Canas in the shed ,think I'll wait for the temperature to rise a bit before I go out ,its nice and sunny with a blue sky .
Ann ,yes I am hoping the flu jab will give me a little protection, I couldn't have that covid jab and feel bad for months like I have done the last couple of years .
Anng I think your right about knickers breeding lol the trouble is I just put the new ones in the draw and don't take the old ones out and its the same with the socks ,although I have given Max a few to chew as he loves socks lol I tie them together and he will play for ages swinging them about and trying to chew the knots .
Better drink my tea ,oh did everyone remember to put the clocks back ,we have one more to do ,the one on the wall in the conservatory.

I am sure that my knickers breed in the drawer, or it could be that I buy new ones when I don’t need to and don’t get rid of older pairs. Same with bras.

Evening All,
Chilly again but sunny most of the day, with just one little shower that came just as I was doing an errand.
OH has gone to meet some of his old staff at Burton upon Trent for a meal so will be late home. He was disappointed with the menu, nothing on it that didn't have something he either didn't like or shouldn't have. I think he will end up with the sea bass and tell them to leave out the sauce with cream in and have it with the house salad. He woke with head pain this morning but some of his meds and the physio session cleared it completely.
Mandy it was a good idea to ask about the covid jab as it has affected you for so long afterwards the previous two years. If you did get covid I would think your flu jab should give some protection against getting a chest infection with it. You were very quick weren't you!
I know what you mean Gwyn abut a week free of medical appointments. OH will be chasing up an appointment with the Rheumatologist on Monday and every time we pass the pharmacy in the car we have to think whether we need to call for any meds! That was good the hospital advising you of a half hour change in your appointment. I can't imagine ours doing that. We have Sky and have to switch the box off at the wall and then on a few minutes after too. In fact if it says anything like there's no connection as well we do that and it reboots itself and is usually ok again. I wtached Hamza on Strictly and he's on tv much more since. I have recorded some of his progs and like his enthusiasm.
I'll have to see if our garage remote does that AnnG as it would be useful and is a good idea.
I have looked online and it seems the price for clearing the gutters is at the low end of what the cost is for a 3 bed bungalow, so I have texted Dan I will fix a date for the work on Monday.
Determined to do something useful today and needing to think where I will put things once the old cupboards are replaced with smaller ones, I decided to clear out my knicker and bra drawer! Well I chucked a lot of things out and found some small boxes so I could separate things out so they didn't end up in a muddle, but do you ever find when you put things back they just expand to fill the space again?? At least it looks neat and tidy now but I hope I find some extra space when I do my sock drawer tomorrow. :-D
Better finish the food order for tomorrow now.

I agree with Anng its good you got advice about having the jab Mandy.
I did a wash this moring as there was sun and a good blow and I have just finished ironing it all so I feel I have achieved something today. Its always good when the ironing is finished.
Then Hazel my neighbour up the top came down and brought me back Santas pants and the box I gave her last year which was pretty so I can fill those up for this year. We had a good talk and I found that she watches lots of thing on U and Drama too. She still could'nt tell me howt to get rid of the things on my continue watching bit though. I have three Catherine Cookson films and a couple of other programs that I can't get off. She told me to watch Celebrity something with Clausia Winkleman and said it was good so I may give that a go tonight.

Well we didn't even sit down again in the doctors and we were early again too ,very busy in there loads sitting and we just went straight in ,I did say to Colin as we came out that we were out before our appointment time just in case people thought we were late . Well I asked why I could have the covid jab and its because I have rheumatoid arthritis and taking the tablets can affect your immune system but she then said "but your tablets you take are not on that list so I don't know why you've been told that you can have the jab " so I didn't have it . The last two years after having it I've felt so bad and really have to push myself to do anything because it affects me so much because of the long covid I wondered if the jab brings it back ,when I asked the reply was it could well do .
Gwyn that's good you've had a week free from medical appointments and I hope after next week you get good results and no more appointments will be needed . Have you been into school at all ,It's half term here next week but I know lots have already had half term . Our TV freezes sometimes and we just turn the switch off leave it for about 30 seconds and turn it on again ,you do have to wait a while for it to reset its self, ours is a bt box .
Lovely sunshine now but we still have a chilly wind and some black clouds looming.

Nice long post Gwyn. I wonder if what your daughter does when the TV freezes is to turn the power off to the TV at the plug, leave for a few minutes and turn back on when the TV re-boots itself. If I have to do that it does take a while to come on so you think it is not going to happen so patience is required. I am on Virgin but I think the same thing happens to daughters and she is on Sky.
How efficient of the hospital to notify you af that slight change. Good to have a week off from medical things. Sometimes it all gets you down, although not getting appointments is more wearing here of course. At least I have a doctors appointment Monday, but did it really have to be at 0845?
I do like Hamza, love him on country file (did like him on Strictly as well) and his new programme is interesting, although for some reason I preferred the first programme to the second. He does love being with his nieces and showing them things.
