Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Apr 2026 18:56

Like you Mandy it dried the washing I did today. Its been sunny here and very windy with it coming from the east. Its been blowing all the husks off the red tree over the big pond and the husks off the beech tree too so both are now covered in trash. I have taken it out ofthe big pond three times today with the net and once where I can reach it in my pond as the winds blown it all to the side where the decking is.

I went to the docs and got my new inhailer and tried to load it while I was in the surgery niether I or the girl there could do it. we looked at the instructions many times but in the end I did it so I came home and forgot to say about my nose bleeding and it started again just now. Iv'e put more of that nasal cream up it and hope it does the trick.

Evening all,

It's been a sunny day but the wind has made it a really cold day and it been really gusty ,the only good thing was it dried all my washing .

Oh Vera your poor toes that must have been so painful having to have shoes on with all the bruising ,we lost our Lloyd's pharmacy too and they were the ones that would deliver .

Mel I hope you've managed to stop your nose bleeding and didn't have to go to the doctors .

Feel really tired today as I was still awake at two o'clock and just as I started to drop off Colin started snoring , I think it will be an early night tonight.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Apr 2026 12:19

Basically I had a nose bleed while out fishing husks out of both ponds and filled my hanky so came in for another one and then the shopping arrived. I answered tthe door and it was a girl driver, she asked if I was ok and I said yes but I could'nt find my cream to stop the bleed. She was very good and put all the hsopping in the box and put it up so I could get the sack barrow under it to bring it in. She also said she would take back my plastic bags which a lot of the men drivers won't do.

Came in nose still bleeding and found my cream nose still bleeding and put some up it and waited a while, still bleeding had to do it again. That was three quarters of an hour ago at least and its still bleeding a bit if I put a hanky to it.

May have to ring Em or the docs.

Read the post can't comment at the mo.

I think I must have had to add my main line phone number to something I have filled in recently. I have an answer ohone which I don't pick up when it rings. I had a few missed calls when I got home. All silent when checked and yesterday and today the phone has rung a lot, yesterday afternoon 4 times, so far this morning 4 times. I have checked some of the numbers, they are all mobile with no documentation for them so just ordinary people with phones. Interesting and aggravating.

Good morning

Computer, iPad and phone all agree for once and tell me it is 11 degrees but it doesn't feel anywhere near that to me. At the moment the sun is out but it does keep clouding over.

Thank you for the pics AnnG and thank you Annx for forwarding them. I can only repeat what the others have said, your son is the image of you. The flowers are lovely with some vibrant colours. I've been to Waddesdon 3 or 4 times. I know I've been twice at Christmas for the wonderful house displays and lights and outside markets. It's a huge place isn't it. There's some wealth there.

Enjoy your main U3A meeting today. Will there be a speaker?

Yesterday I limped to the pharmacy and back with my shoes pressing on my bruised toes and came back spitting feathers. Would you believe this new chemist didn't get my meds right either!! My prescription isn't that peculiar. It's 5 things every 4 weeks regularly and 1 item I request the chemist to add to the list when I am running low. This is because it is a strong painkiller which I take when required rather than at regular intervals. I get 100 at a time and take as few as possible so a box can last me anything from 4 to 6 months. When I collected my first script from this chemist I asked that they order me the painkillers for this month and saw the chap serving me write a note on my script. Was it done? Of course not. Their suggestion was that I take the script into our GP's main surgery in town and ask them to sign it off quickly. I did point out that all these visits I have to keep making to town cost me fuel and parking fees as well as time. I told him I would order them myself on the NHS App which I have done this morning. In the 12 years we have lived here I've had 4 different pharmacies. One was great and I remember bragging on here about how good our system was but it was a Lloyds and unfortunately they closed.

Just seen the time and I have a hair appointment this morning. Must dash, might BBL

Morning Anng and all,

Nice bright morning again today 6 degrees and a high pollen count today. Had two messages while typing this all about nothing really.

Shopping comes today two subs one going back and the other I'll keep as its crumpets. Apart from that and posting another little parcel the rest of the day is mine to do whatever I wish. May sow some more seeds or clean out the girls or just potter.

I slept well up at 6.15am for the loo and went back to bed and fell asleep again till 9.05am.

Enjoy this afternoon Anng you'll have lots of pics to show.

Yes Mandy, having a house seems to mean there's always a job to do doesn't it! I stayed up tonight looking on the internet how to tighten the handle, but although I didn't have a proper look I couldn't even see any screws. I had to stop OH keep going out to the dustbin on the front with things as he hadn't thought if it gets worse we might not be able to lock it. Anyway, I remembered the door might still be under guarantee and knew where I filed the papers and it is still under warranty, so I'll ring them tomorrow and let them fix it in case we make things worse! I've never known so much trouble before with a front door in my life. I like the spotlights in the kitchen. Our kitchen is square so I had a round fitting with three spotlights. It's handy being able to angle spotlights where you want them. I hope Max doesn't remember she is the lady who does the jabs or perhaps he likes her and doesn't mind. How nice of Jake to give you his nearly new tablet and set it up for you. He seems to be a nice young man and he didn't expect any payment for it, makes you more sure he accepts something and you were going to buy one as you say.

Evening all

Just started to rain here but its been nice and sunny just a bit chilly with the wind .

Thanks Ann for passing on Anng's photos, what a lovely lot of flowers so pretty and yes I agree with Mel your son is so like you .

Ann there's always some needs fixing ,we need a new kitchen light ,this one is a fluorescent light and we keep putting in a new starter but this time it's not working so we think we might go for a row of spot lights ,son said he would soon wire them for us so I just have to find some we like .
Son came this morning to take Max to the vets again ,he had to have his second part of his yearly booster jab ,saw the lovely lady who's been there since we started going with our first dog Bonnie ,she stated off on the reception and can now do the jabs etc .
Jake came with son as he has a week's holiday this week ,he bought me a tablet that he doesn't use now ,it's only a year old and he knew I was thinking of buying a new one as this one is getting old and I now can't take any photo's on it ,its saying storage is full .
He set the new one up while we were at the vets ,I now have to get use to using it , I did give him some money for it but he really didn't want to take it but as I told him I was going to have to buy one anyway .

I forwarded the email with the pics almost an hour before you said you hadn't had them Mel. Maybe you don't read all the posts.

Well the garden centre was full of bedding and pot plants, some unusual Million bells too and lots of courgette, cue and even some runner beans. They need to stay inside a bit longer though, so I might wait another week. Also the garden centre in the sticks might be a bit cheaper.

The front door handle seems to have become loose, so something else that needs fixing now.

Iv'e not had anymore pics either.

BIL popped in to do the mower deck but has driven his car away now so I don't know if he's gone or not. He had the eye clinic today which is why he was'nt at work.

I too only have your pictures but like Vera said if I put the cusor under the pic the words come up.

Forgot to post this but he came back on the mower and finished the mowing as he had mended the deck. He's gone now as he has to get ready to go to work but first pick wife up from her work then leave for his.

Vera I did send photos to AnnX and asked her to foward them. (Or I think I asked her to fotward them. If they don't get forwarded I will do it later when I have unpacked.

I slept quite well too. I got up at 7.30 am and OH had already gone out for his walk. He's getting earlier and earlier. I've changed my bedding and there are 3 loads of washing on the line but it keeps coming over very dark. I hope it's not going to rain. I've got to walk up to the pharmacy this afternoon for my next lot of tablets.

Tonight we have a club meeting. The speaker is a local historian whose family have owned land here for centuries. He's talking about our town in the '60s and '70s. Most of the members of the club are incomers since the '70s so it will be interesting for us and, if he gets anything wrong, the 2 ladies who were born in the area and have never moved away will be down on him like a ton of bricks.

I only had avatars from Mel and Annx when I started typing but now they are all back minus the writing underneath, though that is visible if you put your cursor under the pictures. Talking of pictures, have I missed something from AnnG? The last ones I had were from Ascott House but it sounds as though she has sent something since then.

OH is just making a quick sandwich so that I can get off to the pharmacy early. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Annx Report 20 Apr 2026 11:38

Morning All,

Slept well and was up at 7.30am to take my tablets and shower before going to Costa, then to fill OH's car up and the shop. Diesel here is 190.9 a litre now at Sainsbury's. Not sure what I'm doing today. It's a battle between what I ought to do and what I want to do. We were going to some of the pretty villages Northampton way today so I could take some photos, but OH has to prepare for a hearing tomorrow now and he has work things tomorrow and Wednesday, then I have Drs/nurse appointments Thursday and Friday morning. I might just pop to a garden centre I haven't been to for a while to see what plants they have in now, then do some jobs and take myself off with my camera tomorrow.

AnnG those gardens on your photos are absolutely stunning aren't they! What a lovely display. Nice to see one of you and your son too. :-) I hope it's a good journey home and that the weeds aren't knee high! (only joking, as we haven't had the rain to make them grow too much.)

Our post box on a post at the end of the close fell over (or was pushed) a couple of weeks ago, but I see this morning that it is upright again. I though they might just take it away till they replaced it with the new sort, but no, it is back which is good as it's handy for us.

I've got no writing under the pictures today Mel.

Better get going to the garden centre now.
