Afternoon All,

Yes I managed to sleep better last night and feel brighter today. No fog or mist and some bright sunshine which is a pleasant change from recent weather.

Mel it's a shame you didn't get a photo of the 'twins' with their mum, but wildlife tends to vanish or move when I haven't got my camera in my hand. I'll have to try the looking up trick!

AnnG what a nuisance the 2 appliances at your DIL's going wrong. As Mandy said you can wash up by hand, but you really need the washer to do clothes, so I hope it can be fixed today.

Mandy that was lucky your son managed to get a new tumbledryer delivered on Christmas Eve, but it's not a time when you want more expense. There's nothing nicer than a home made apple crumble is there and I see you have some apples now. The ones you get when you eat out seem to just be sprinkled with an oat mix and don't have that lovely crunch!

As OH is hoping to go to a match in Derbyshire on New Year's Day (gales and snow permitting!) I think we will have some Barnsley lamb chops on New year's eve instead..........he hates missing out! I might just have a pizza on New Years Day as a last naughty treat that's quick to do.

We called and dropped off my parcel to return at the Post office this morning and I asked about paying cheques in. Like the lady who served me and has the same bank, she said the service doesn't apply for us as our bank is a building society! She said she'd opened a seperate bank account in the end that was solely for her to pay cheques in to save travel and parking costs going to the few distant branches that are left. Isn't life getting ridiculous! We called at the bathroom place then and I picked up the latest catalogue. Then we went down the main road to Sainsbury's for OH to drop a suit at the drycleaners in there. Well it was mayhem with the traffic queuing in all directions for the retail park and blocking all the lanes on the island so no-one could move when the traffic lights changed. We were lucky to find a parking spot near the exit at Sainsbury's, but a chunk of the carpark is now charging points for the EVs and people going to the retail park there as well now and walk across the main road. Now OH has gone for his annual blood sugar test.

That's a good idea to freeze apple sauce Vera. I've done it when I've made too much, but not thought to do a batch. I'm not keen on the bought stuff either and find it too sweet.

A COT next I think and a browse through this catalogue.

The mist and fog has gone at last and it's a lovely sunny day, though it is very cold. OH has been out in the garden for a lot of the day so things are looking a bit tidier out there now.

I don't know where the time is going at the moment but I seem to be working all the time and not achieving very much. Now Mandy has reminded me that I bought some cooking apples a few days ago and had forgotten about them. I used my last pot of apple sauce the last time we had pork and I need to make some more. I usually do quite a lot in one go and freeze it in little pots. I think I'd better get on with that now before I forget again or the apples won't be worth using.

Enjoy what's left of the day everyone.

Yes I thought of you Mel when I said about the cookers I thought bet Mel has some cookers .

Oh thats a nuisance Anng the dishwashers not so bad as you can wash up but you need the washer for clothes ,sons tumble dryer went wrong just before Christmas he had a fiddle with it but they had to buy a new one ,luckily Hughes could deliver christmas eve but its something they could have done without having to buy at Christmas time.

Got some lovely big cookers for the crumble and a nice cabbage for 50p dropped the scrips in the doctors it was very busy nowhere to park but Colin nipped out and put them in the box while I turned round ,now we're having a coffee and then I'm making some parsnip soup for lunch .

Good morning all. I did add or try to add a post earlier but safari wouldn’t play. I slept quite well and got up later than usual. It is dull but dry. We are probably not going out. Daughter is still coughing and the washing machine went wrong before we went away. This morning the dishwasher has come out in sympathy and the man is coming to fix both this afternoon. Just hope he can fix them.

Morning Mandy and all,

Shame you don't live nearer as I still have picked cookers int he boot of my car.

Its 9 degrees here a much brighter day and I have three deer walking across the garden O they're playing. It was the mum and twins which are getting big now. I suppose they stay with mum for a year at least. I wonder if she is carrying again?

BIL has the week off so I suppose he could turn up at any time.

Hope you all slept better last night.

I do hope you can sleep well tonight Annx. I was once told that if you can't sleep to look upwards. It has worked for me in the past.

Annx Report 29 Dec 2024 20:00

I see AnnG. I often forget we are all the ages we are, but I hope she is better soon. OH and I were saying yesterday how so many of the people we worked with would be long retired now. Soon no-one would know what it was like pre internet times.

We have a few errands in the morning so I'd better catch up on some sleep tonight if I can.

Ann, I probably didn’t make this clear SiL’s youngest daughter (he is 70), is in her early 30s.

I must look for a new bin but I don’t really need a large one and not a round one either. I have a collection of bags where I keep trying for the right size and they are either too large or too small.

Evening All,

No mist and the sun is peeping out just now but I don't think it will last long. I was awake till 4.00am so not a good night for me and yet I was yawning my head off in the afternoon. So I was up late, but we had jacket potatoes with cottage cheese and salad for lunch which was nice after all the richer food lately and quick to get. Like Mandy said, you get tired of some of the Christmas fare after a few days. OH bagged up the Turkey remains and put them in the bin this morning. He has now settled to watch a match on TV. I've got the washer going and have noticed the bathroom place has started their sale I was waiting for, so I need to get cracking and get it ordered at last as I think we can save quite a bit buying in their sale.

Yes AnnG simple things please me! I was excited about the new bin as I managed to find the same one I had and which I still have a stack of 20L bin liners for!! It's a black metal Black and Decker one with a soft closing lid and liner bucket with a handle. (I still use a bin liner to save washing it out). I have to have a rectangular one for where it fits as well. It's a shame you have all had the cough and cold and I hope your daughter's cough improves soon. That's nice that grandson cared for the cats. I'm sure they preferred being at home. What a shame the little girl having to go to hospital, especially at Christmas. I hope she soon gets better.

It's the same here some days Mel when OH can be at different meetings in the day and then footie in the evening. I just go somewhere myself instead if the four walls get boring! BIL may have just overindulged the rich Christmas food. Hopefully it isn't the nasty winter bug!

BIL dropped in but did'nt stay long it was just after 1.20pm and I was just about to do my ham,egg and hash browns. He did'nt want any said he had a dodgey tummy O nice I thought bringing it to me!!!!!

I have been mucking about with my polyclay.

Enjoy the turkey on New Years Eve.

This morning we took presents to R SiL’s eldest daughter and husband and baby Maya so that was nice. I have never seen a child with so many toys. A sweet child though, very good tempered and not shy she is 21 months. Unfortunately his youngest daughter was to have been there but she ended up in hospital today with pancreatitis.

Anyway, looking forward to New Year’s Eve now when we will have our Turkey. I have to say that Tesco’s beef Wellington was lovely, the beef was really tender. Still I look forward to Turkey on Tuesday.

Ann I think it was you who asked about the cats. Grandson who lives five minutes away fed them

Morning all,

Still dreary here the fog just doesn't seem to want to lift at all and it's chilly out.

I sliced some beef and turkey and put that in the freezer the gammon is going down but I think we're both getting a bit fed up with it now ,we're having gammon and salad tonight with a jacket potato.

I've just mopped all the floors over so while they are drying I'm having my coffee.

AnninGlos Report 28 Dec 2024 21:57

Ann amazing how the receipt of a new kitchen bin is exciting. I could do with a new one, mainly one that I can easily get bags to fit.
Mel zi think that is always the case around. Hristmas. Not knowing what day it is.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Dec 2024 20:40

Not done much today. I did start some polyclay and then went to the shop and forgot I had started something . Fed the girls and shut them in again tonight.

Still keep having to look a the pc to see what day it is. BIL ususally comes on a Frisay but did'nt this week and its thrown me. Then I thought he may pop in today and he did'nt. I know his wife has a few days off so I expect they are diong something together.

Afternoon All,

A misty day here again too, but we both slept well last night so feel a bit more 'with it ' today. We discovered some cottage cheese needed to be eaten in the next few days, so that will be our Sunday lunch now with a jacket potato and salad! We can have our Sunday lunch on New Year's Day instead, although OH will likely go to a match then. He was all ready to go today, then decided it would be cold and stayed in the warm instead and has been gathering the papers he needs to do his Tax Return.

I am quite worried about him Gwyn but he has a phone appointment now that he was asked to make yesterday, so he should know more then. He's mentioned getting a lightweight briefcase with his back hurting so I'm going to see if I can find him one. That's an advantage I hadn't thought of being able to have a get together for your birthday when people aren't working!

I expect you are all cosy back at your daughter's now AnnG. What happened with the pussycats while you were away? I saw the white cat this morning after not seeing him for months now and I think his smart red collar may have been from Santa.A ;-) I like misty landscape scenery too. It is quite magical isn't it.

The new kitchen bin arrived this morning, but I'll wait till the bag is full before swapping it for the old one, although we keep forgetting the soft close has stopped working on the old one and we scare ourselves to death when the lid clangs down.

I keep mixing the days up too Mel. Yes I need to get some washing done too but won't be putting it out.

Luckily, although it is foggy all over the Lake District it tended to stay away from the road which sere just Misty, it is light musty/fog here now and taking a while for the house to warm up.
