I was coming on to do a post but my eyes are still so blurry from the drops that were put in them this morning at the hospital that I really can't see well enough. Yesterday was a good day apart from the weather, today weather is even worse and the hospital wasn't much fun.
I'll try to come back later if I can see well enough.

Gosh Mel... There's hours worth of work in each of your little figures. :-0 What fun though and it will be lovely to see the finished result.
Dreary and cold now, after the sun half-heartedly made an attempt to shine about 12.30. I managed to get to school and back in the dry, but we are forecast heavy rain and strong winds, so it will be an indoor day for me now.
Lots of children in their Brownie or Cub uniforms today as it's Thinking Day. Lovely to see them.

Its better for you than white bread and gives you a bit of roughage.
I now have the bottom part of his boots on so now its just the top bits to do and the soles. Then I shall have to fight with his hair and then its the best bit doing a belt and purse and what ever else I decide to put on him. O and his hat, now do I give him a velvet hat or a big one with a feather in it?? I love making their hats, belts and purses and may try to do a sword belt as I have a nice little sword.

I do now eat wholemeal bread (Warburtons no added sugar) but it is the first wholemeal bread I have eaten that didn't cause me problems.

Morning all,
Dull and very dreary this morning and I was woken in the night with rain beating against the windows in the bedroom. Its so depressing out there I feel like going back to bed.
Don't know where this week has gone its passed really quickly up to now perhaps because I have been occupied a lot this week.
I don't like wholemeal pasta either and oh certainly did'nt. I usually buy the spinach one if I can get it. He would'nt eat anything wholemeal in the way of bread or pata but he would eat dark choc digestives.

Good morning all. 9 degrees and very wet hear this morning.
Ann hope you can get that warning light sorted. It is really worrying when those lights come on and you don't know why, or know there is no reason they should. It definitely seems like a fault in the car.
The chicken pasta dish sounds nice. I tried swapping to wholemeal pasta once but really didn't like it so hope that you can get on with it.

Evening All,
Woke to lashing rain and wind this morning, but it cleared up mid morning so I popped to the shop and that pesky warning light was still on, so I rang the Peugeot garage when I got home and they confirmed I can't reset it. Before I book it in and start emptying my pockets, I'll recheck all the pressures again just in case there is a slow puncture causing it to stay on. It's unlikely but you never know.
All this rain and more expected tomorrow won't help with finding that little boy as the waters are just rising more. They published a photo and named him today. Such a sweet, happy, little boy. The area where he fell in is nearer here than I thought, but the report says they were walking along the towpath which suggests the canal not the river, so that must be a mistake as the police would have been shown where he disappeared and the CCTV showed it as well. I know a lot of people don't like the idea of having reins on a toddler, but I think they were good and I saw a tot a little while ago with a new version where a strap clipped to the harness at the back between the shoulders. They can't run off then and if they fall you can lift them up. My little brother hated you holding his hand and started running up people's drives when he was walking with me and thought it funny when I kept calling him back. In the end I told him there might be a big dog living there........that worked!!
Vera I would have to empty the cane chairs out of the conservatory to seat all of those people. You are going to have a house full, but I hope that lady checked it would be ok to invite the extra people.
AnnG re the chicken, it was cooked yesterday afternoon to have for lunch today. We usually eat our main meal at lunchtime and as reheated pasta is best for blood sugar levels, it made sense to cook it all yesterday and reheat today. I wanted to use up the white pasta so we can swap to the wholewheat one which should be even better. I thought OH he may not like it with oregano and garlic in it, as he's funny about herbs and garlic, but I did remind him he eats lasagne that has the same in it. He got a small helping and said he couldn't taste the oregano and never even mentioned the garlic and helped himself to more!! Two more helpings are in the freezer now. I cooked it on high for 4 hours in the slow cooker, adding the courgettes and peppers for the last 2 hours.
It was sensible not to risk catching a bad cold and how thoughtful of your friend to wear a mask and stand well back when she called round. I hope she soon gets over it. Again you put me to shame with all you get done. I looked at the hoover and changed my mind and cleared out 3 shelves of the big bathroom cabinet instead checking the dates on things like creams and insect repellent. That was a nice surprise for you in T's old passport!
I've been trying to find out more about the camp where Dad's cousin was a POW in WW2 in Singapore. I'm amazed dad never mentioned it as both families lived in the same area. I found there were several camps in the same place, but oh the sad pictures of those poor men with legs and arms like sticks! On the first day of half term here, last Saturday in the early hours, 3 young teenage boys damaged 13 cars in the road that mum's old house backed onto. To think these men in the past risked or gave their lives at a few years older than these boys. They need their eyes opening as to how lucky they are.
Mel you are like me and don't like to give up! I hope the Tudor man turns out ok after having a break from him.

Evening all,
We went shopping first thing as it was a dry start to the day but by the time we came out it was raining ,not a hard rain so we did manag to get all the shopping in before it really came down.,not as cold as yesterday but the wind is now getting up.
Well that was a nice surprise Anng and they say things come in threes so start looking for the next little surprise :-) Has the lady got covid ,with all the coughing and sneezes that you hear you never know who's got it these days .
Vera hope you all enjoyed the birthday lunch ,bit naughty of the other birthday girl to invite the extras so they all descend back to yours ,do you know all the others she had invited .
Oh Ann I see they are still looking for the little boy that went into the water ,his poor family must be beside themselves I hope they find him soon .
Oh goodness Mel don't go falling off your chair ,you must have really tired to start to doze off . Looking forward to seeing this little Tudor man you've worked hard on him .

I have cleaned the lounge diner and wiped the kitchen surfaces down and cooked and mashed swede for tonight's meal. I was just starting my bedroom and decided to empty out OH's bedside cabinet which, as far as I knew had only a few bits in it. Threw out a couple of old empty small boxes (already have his cufflinks and a watch in another drawer). picked up his old out of date passport. Guess what? one £20 note and 3 £10 notes neatly folded inside. paper notes of course and that £10 note finished in 2018.
I now have to visit the bank or the post office and see if they will take them and exchange them. He was a squirrel, this is the second time I have found money.

All change here then as the lady who was going to take me this afternoon has a really bad cold. She appeared at my door with a face mask on and stood well back. She is one of those people who seems to always catch colds but she is just back from staying with her daughter and she said the train was full of coughs and sneezes.
So I have to have a think about what I am going to do now. I have put the slow cooker on with mince, onions, mushrooms and carrots. It will be enough for two days, will possibly make a cottage pie today with it and maybe curry tomorrow.
so far, all I have done besides that is sweep the kitchen floor and wipe the work tops and sink etc and read the DM on line.

Morning all,
Dull and dreary, wet and windy once again............................will it ever end?
I think we are all suffering from S.A.D. like the people do in Alaska. Its 10 degrees here and pc says light rain. Its got that right but dos'nt mention the wind with it.
Must go up the post today and get the bin out ready for tomorrows collecton. I only take it up once a month as I don't have enough to fill it for every two weeks. I begrudge putting a 70 litre bag out half full if that.
Overslept this morning so I shall have to get on if I want to achieve anything today. Glad you had a better night and slept well Anng and hoping our Vera has too.

Oh dear. Just had an email from my son in law who is 70 today. He thanked me for gis card and gift. Well he thanked for his gift and asked me if the very nice card with the beer picture on it was from me as it was blank inside. How embarrassing and worrying because I did the same with my great grandson's card made and enveloped at the same time. I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I trust all yours have been signed?

Good morning all. 8 degrees here and raining. Nothing planned for this morning except H/W. I had a really good night last night so should be full of beans today :-0 ;-)
Vera hope all goes well with the birthday lunch. Try to enjoy it although it does sound like hard work for you. It doesn't seem fair that you have all the extra guests when it is the other birthday 'girl' who has invited extra guests. Did she agree this with the group beforehand? You did have a busy day yesterday. And seemed to get a lot done.
I suppose with these light shows they are bound to appeal to some and not others. If the music had been soft and the lights more to your taste you might have been the one to like it. I wonder if your 'brain' was reacting differently because you suffer from migraines.
Mel that is a lot of work for one little chap.
Ann I note that you had chicken thighs defrosting ready for the slow cooker. How long and at what temp were you going to cook them. Just wondering as it looked a bit late for when you normally eat. I always use the slow cooker on low for a long time.

Sleep well Vera and get ready for a busy day with your friends. What does oh do on these accasions?
I have faffed about today on my Tudor man I just can't seem to get him the way I want him so I'm no further on with him. Iv'e cut two lots of his caps over his shirt sleeve and think I may have it right now but then dinner got in the way so it will probably be tomorrow by the time I have another go. This could all go a**e up and he will look silly. There again I may change my mind and make them in material instead of the black leather I am useing.

Glad you are home OK AnnG. Take it easy for the rest of the day and hopefully you will sleep well tonight. It looks as though you have a busy week ahead so you’ll need your sleep.
Our weather sounds much like yours Mandy. I haven’t done any FH for quite a while either. I’m not sure where to go next unless I start looking at some really distant branches. I do miss my brother as we shared the research and sparked ideas off each other.
The loss of that little boy is so sad Ann. I can’t imagine how that poor family must be feeling. The last I heard a little while ago was that the police hadn’t found him but had CCTV of him disappearing into the water. Thankfully the water meadows here which are our flood plains haven’t been built on yet. For years there has been talk of a bypass for the town and it is desperately needed but the only place it could go is across the water meadows which wouldn’t be a good idea.
We don’t want you falling off the chair Mel and injuring another bit of you. My OH fell asleep at the computer once and frightened the life out of me when I found him slumped on his desk. I thought he’d had a heart attack.
That light show: It was professionally done AnnG and the weird synthesizer screech over everything was a deliberate recording. I’ve read a bit more about it and I think, though I’m not sure, it was meant to be free flowing and we were meant to just absorb it and “feel the love”. Apparently over 1000 people went over the 3 nights and the feedback generally is that it was great and people want more of that sort of thing. Lots of the comments used the word “magical” and said that it was wonderful just to chill out and people watch. I am usually fairly open to new creative ideas but this one did nothing for me. Perhaps I really have got old and stick-in-the-mud.
This morning we dusted and hoovered between us and then I did the ironing. After lunch I went to do some shopping and deliver a birthday card while OH washed the floors. There weren’t many cars parked at Sainsbury’s but inside the shop was packed and they were queuing down the aisles to get to the checkouts. The shelves were half empty as well. It took me ages to get my few bits and get through the checkout. Then I went to deliver my card and the road I wanted was closed with diversion signs. I could see where the diversion was going to take me and decided it would be quicker and easier to nip through a nearby estate. I forgot that all the locals would know this way too and the road through is very narrow, not much more than a path so it was constant backing up and edging forward to make room for the traffic coming the other way. I was very fed up when I eventually got home.
I think I’ve mentioned before that we have a small birthday group i.e. a few ladies who lunch together on or near each other’s birthdays. One of the group and I have our birthdays the same week so usually combine our lunch and we are having it tomorrow. When we go out like this we all normally just have a main course and then go back to the birthday girl’s house for desserts or cakes and coffee/tea and usually there are 6 or 7 of us. However the other lady with a birthday is also giving up a voluntary job she has done for very many years and wanted to mark that as an occasion so she has invited a few more people. Last I heard there were 12 coming and guess whose house they will be descending on after lunch. Yep, they are all coming here. The other lady is sorting out cakes and I am doing a cheese board with crackers and grapes for those who prefer something more savoury, plus the drinks. Hence all the cleaning this morning. All I have to do tomorrow is make sure the downstairs cloakroom is clean and tidy, set out chairs and get out cups, plates, serviettes etc.
I might not be online for a couple of days. Tomorrow will be busy and Thursday I have another hospital appointment for my eyes. Depending on what they do I may not be able to see very well for a few hours if it’s just drops and a couple of days if it’s an injection.
I slept a bit better last night so I’m hoping for the same tonight. I also hope you all have a restful night too and a good day tomorrow.

Afternoon all,
Hope you are feeling a little better now Anng and that you have a better night's sleep tonight ,you'll have to have an early night to catch up on your sleep.
Ann you've started back on your FH I see I seem to have got all behind on doing any on mine, I would like to see the 1921 census and find out where my grandmother was with my dad but at the moment it's still pay to look I think . My dad always said he didn't live with his mother but I'm not sure when he was put with another family so it would be interesting to see where he was .
It's been a bit of a dull day with only a little bit of sun the last hour or so ,it's also been really cold out and is suppose to get colder later in the week .
