O I did'nt tell you what we had for dinner klast night. Stu did lamb steaks with carrots red cabbage peas and roasties with a lamb gravy which James made. Its funny not going out after dinner for a ciggy so instead I wiped all his window frames down in the kitchen. I must say they were a bit black mouldy but were gleaming by the time I left. He thanked me and was looking for a special cork to put back in the bottle of wine and he took all the tea towels out and pout them on the floor!!!!!! Not one of them was folded up they had been put in the draw as they came out oft the dryer and some were a bit damp still. He said it was Abi when she wanted to use the dryer she would just empty it and put them in the draw not noticing if they were dry or not. There was also 6 dish clothes that all looked a bit grey so I told him to boil them in a drop of water with a dessert spoon of washing powder. leave them in for a while to cool and rinse them and he would be surprised how clean they would come up.

Oh well done Jake. :-D
So pleased for you.

I had a very early start and a busy full-on day yesterday, so didn't get on the boards, but I did send him a Good Luck thought about 7 a.m so am delighted he got the news he wanted.
Well done to sister Katie too.
One of my daughters did a similar course and really enjoyed it. There is so much more involved these days, so learning all the different aspects will be so interesting.
Mandy I hope those horrid feelings stop and your chat with the doctor on Tuesday finds a positive way of moving forward with your treatment.

Several of you have been busy in your garden. Well done ladies. When it is not quite so soggy out there, we need to again tackle the ivy, which is doing it's best to take over. I know the birds like it in the winter months, so I don't mind some remaining, but it's taking liberties now :-|

AnnG how sad to see how your neighbour's house and even garden were so stripped. I know this happens and I still feel sad thinking of what family memories were thrown away, after my Dad's last sibling died. She had been keen on home crafts and did lovely embroidery, but it all was cleared, likewise any family photos and paperwork. It all got a bit messy towards the end of her life, when her so called 'friend' took over running her life and told people that my aunt had no family, so she made all the decisions. We had to get a solicitor involved as she was actually quite close to her 6 nieces and had a nephew too.
Unfortunately my aunt had supposedly left a Will naming the 'friend' as beneficiary and she got the bungalow and cleared it before the case got sorted, although within a day or so of the death, their solicitor told our solicitor that there was no Will, then magically a couple of days later, one turned up, a homemade affair, which was very suspect.
It was all very underhand :-( :-(

Anyway, when it's all settled, I hope you have lovely new neighbours. They can make such a difference to day-to-day life.

Vera, What a saga with your repeat prescriptions. I remember how you used to say how good it was. Why do they have to change things? :-| :-|
Good to hear that OH is continuing to improve and manage things about the house, Good that he is actually interested in more too, even if this means you sometimes can't get on so well ;-)
Hopefully, when the weather improves, he can potter outside more.

Annx, You certainly got to see a good variety of places in UK., when travelling for your husband's work. It's intesting to find out about places and explore them, that wouldn't be on your usual list for visiting.
A shame you couldn't find anything you wanted in the sale, but it's only a save of money, if you really want something.

Mel
Your meals with Stu sound good and it's interesting to hear what he puts in his homemade sauce for the chicken.
You seem to have been quite busy with your miniatures. What time in history are your new makes?

A dull start with showers forecast and laptop telling me it's 10 degrees and cloudy.
If it brightens up, a walk would be good. On Tuesday, when I went and it was lovely and sunny, I saw a huge bee having a wonderful time in a local garden, where it was going from flower to flower on a patch of self-set bright purple violets :-D

Morning all,

When I got up it was dull and dreary that was at 7.20am to I went back to bed for a lie in. Got up at 7.40am and the sun was coming out.Its quite bright now and pc says partly sunny and 10 degrees. BIL is coming today as I rang him last night and its our Big Breakfast at the village hall tomorrow so he will come the]n too as its my turn to pay.

Mandy I hope the half strength pill will work for you and take away those nasty turns you've been experiencing. Keeping fingers crossed it works this time. Its strange when they tell you one thing and the instrutions tell you something else.

AnninGlos Report 27 Feb 2026 08:35

good morning 12 degrees here and dry at the moment. It rained yesterday evening and probably over night I think today is supposed to be mainly dry.

I suspect the house next door will be going up for sale. I imagine that it might need a lot doing to it. I am not looking forward to new owners and so many people these days buy a house with the intention of having it altered. That one is 3 beds and is the same as cynths the other side of me. But Cynth's is now 4 bed as they had it extended and the integral garage made into a utility room and dining room. The thought of builders next door is a bit concerning. So I shall have to hope for an older couple maybe downsizing. The garden has nothing going for ir. It does have a greenhouse but no flower beds except right by the house and is the same size as mine.

Sorry Mandy, fancy me putting Chelsea when I know she got herself a job a little while ago! So well done Katie! I still think of her as a little girl but time goes by so quickly and they are growing up like you say. It's good the doctor phoned you at last and thinks the same as you about the tablets and will see you on Tuesday. I hope you soon feel better as it is quite scary feeling strange like that.

AnnG it sounds like they whirred into action to clear your neighbour's house and garden. There must have been a lot to fill two big vans. Mind you it filled a big van when the chap cleared MIL's house and we had already been filling both of our cars to take things away for a few weeks. I wonder whether the house will go up for sale next.

Fingers crossed there's not a lot of chilli tonight then Mel. I like to add bits and pieces to gravies/sauces too to add more flavour. Years ago when I used to make sausage rolls I would often add chopped onion and a dash of worcester sauce to the sausagemeat.

I'm late to bed tonight, but we've already decided lay in a while with our first cuppa tomorrow. I'm off now and to read more of 'Entitled'. It's quite amazing up to now. Imagine having a dressing room that is 50 feet wide and 100 feet long. That's about as big as this bungalow and the front and back garden!

Yes it was Katie Ann they are all growing up so fast , thank you Jake was so pleased I would have loved to have seen the big smile on his face
I meant to say that it's good OH hasn't got to go back and can reduce the drops , hopefully he's now going in the right direction.

Vera pleased your OH is feeling a lot better ,I thought it didn't seem very mild when I went down to the shed and when I came in Colin had lit the fire .

Anng looks like you'll soon have a new neighbours, goodness they sound as if they were taking anything that wasn't screwed down , sad when everything's just cleared away .

Mel hope you enjoy you'd meal tonight .

I had the doctor ring me a while ago and she told me it could be the higher dose thats causing it and said it might be to much to soon and on an empty stomach ,but those tablets you are suppose to have half an hour before a meal , anyway I now have to go down to the 10mgs again so I have to half the tablet ,I have to take my blood pressure if I have a funny turn and start taking my blood pressure twice a day until I have a face to face with her on Tuesday .

Yes it is nice not having to cook Annx. You never know what you are going to get but its usually nice as long as he dos'nt put too much chilli in things. He's a great ne for mixing up a sauce for chicken, he uses mayo, barb b q sauce, sage thyme wholegrain mustart and french mustard and other things too sometimes. I think it was Katie who had the interveiw not Chelsea.

Just washed my hair and its now got a will of its own and won't go where I want it to. O well its clean anyway, I shall put hat on and hide it up.

Better get on and get dressed ready for tonight.

Annx Report 26 Feb 2026 18:10

Sorry I was sidetracked and missed your post Vera. I'm glad your OH is feeling better and that the antibiotics are doing the trick. What a performance with your meds though. I hope you manage to get the missing one tomorrow or Saturday. Imagine if you had to keep paying for taxis! We called to get OH's meds from the chemist yesterday morning. I had done an online request for mine the night before and they say to wait 3 working days before collecting them. On the unlikely chance they might have them I told OH to ask and they did which amazed me after only requesting them the evening before.

I seem to have lost motivation with the garden and have things like the fuschias that still need cutting back and the greenhouse needs sorting out too and don't mention weeds!

It's a shame you can't find a cooker like you want, but I am finding the same with the bathroom and I really need to crack on with it.

Annx Report 26 Feb 2026 17:03

Afternoon All,

Firstly well done to Jake on passing his test. :-D :-D He must be so delighted!! :-D :-D. Also to Chelsea on successfully getting a place to do the childcare course.

I've only just seen about your poor head and reaction to the meds Mandy as I wasn't on here yesterday or this morning. It does sound horrible and a bit like the sinking feeling before a panic attack. It's likely your meds though with them changing the dose as you say. I hope you've managed to get an appointment with a doctor now. At our surgery now, once you are in the phone queue you can press a number and they ring you back once they reach your place in the queue which is much better and seems to work ok. (fingers crossed!). Have you checked your BP since?

Ann G we used to do similar sometimes when OH would be needing to stay overnight between office visits (all in this country). Rooms were usually double anyway, but if not he would book a double and just claim half for himself and only claim for his own meals. I would go along for the ride. I remember going with him to Warrington and looking round the shops and seeing the huge Town Hall. Next day we were at Rhyll first and I walked on the beach while OH called in another one of his offices. It was a freezing February, windy and not a soul in sight and boarding houses run down or for sale. Then on to Bangor and finally driving home in a blizzard on the welsh mountains. It was a great way to visit places I normally wouldn't have. It's good you are getting Jake booked up early to do some work for you.

We Called at a pub we used to go to near the retail park this morning and had scrambled eggs on toast, then we went to Lidl in the city and got some things OH wanted. There were two homeless men sitting at the entrance and OH said there is one that sits in Morrison's doorway where I pick him up after his hospital appointments. We then carried on to the bespoke jewellers that made my eternity ring as they have a sale on. We hadn't been since before the pandemic and were shocked how high the prices are now! Prices seem to be double, even those with a 50% discount and nothing took my fancy or was anything special, so OH's credit card was safe! :-D

It's 11 degrees here and rainy and blowy here too Mel, but dry all morning. Enjoy your meal at Stu's. It's nice not having to cook. :-D

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 26 Feb 2026 16:05

Well done Katie too. I hope she enjoys her course and you never know what it might lead to. I know someone who got some childcare qualifications and ended up looking after the children of a Canadian couple and travelling with them and seeing quite a bit of the world. I hope you manage to speak to a doctor today Mandy.

It's still dry but very cloudy here and though it's quite warm the cold wind is back so it doesn't feel very warm. I think it's due to start raining again this evening. We both need to get out in the garden and do some cutting back and weeding but neither of us seems to have time or energy at the moment. I got as far as walking round this morning and noting what needs doing but actually doing it is another matter ;-)

Yes AnnG, the kitchen fairy did a good job on the hob last night but I think I'll have to renew my search for a new cooker. Finding one that fits the space, matches with other equipment in the kitchen and is suitable for my style of cooking is not easy. I'm prepared to spend quite a bit but some of the things I've looked at online are just silly money. At this rate by the time I find one I will no longer need it because I'll be too old and decrepit to cook - it'll be meals on wheels for us.

OH has improved a lot in the last day or two. He has started finding jobs to do - usually the sort of jobs that involve getting in my way - but it's good to see him being more active again. He still has another 3 or 4 days of antibiotics to take but they do seem to be having an effect at last.

I have been on to the prescriptions team at our doctors to see why I haven't got one of my prescribed meds. They swear blind that the chemist I use has the signed script from the docs and should have given me the tablets I need. The problem seems to lie in the NHS system that our surgery has been using for the last few years. With repeat scripts we can have 6 monthly ones and then if we say we need more the doctor will want to see you. If, like me, you are on medication permanently after each batch of 6 you just ring the pharmacist at the surgery and ask for your script to be reissued and it's done immediately. The problems seem to arise when there is a change of tablets in the middle of one of these batches of 6. Everything seems to go out of synch. I've had that happen twice recently. First doctor decided to up the dosage on my bp pills, and then a couple of months later he added another tablet. It's a real pain in the proverbial but hopefully I can pick up my missing pills tomorrow or Saturday.

I only have a little bit of ironing to do but I would like to get it out of the way before I start preparing veg etc for our meal so I had better get on. As OH has perked up such a lot perhaps I can persuade him to make me a coffee to keep me going.

I can't remember if I said but next door that has been empty for way over a year after the old fellow dies. I thought daughter was going to move in but not so sure now. I assume probate has been granted as yesterday two large vans were there. House Clearance on both vans and both were absolutely packed to the back door with furniture and stuff. I don't know if they came back and I didn't see but I looked out just now and and I couldn't believe it. They have stripped the garden, taken a large wooden table and an arbour with a seat that Mac made down in the corner of the garden. Even all the pots from by his patio and a couple of those had the dog's ashes in them. How sad. I suppose I should be grateful that they have left the fence.
