Good morning all. 12 degrees here and dry a bit misty. Just seen a weather warning for snow in March from the second week until the end of March. Snow and ice. That is not going to be good.

Mandy hope you are feeling OK this morning and hope that Jake passed his test.

Vera hope the kitchen cleaning fairy got the hob clean of oil splatter ok. :-(

Fingers crossed for that young man in the morning.

Hope you can get some answers Mandy you can't go on like this its wearing you down.

Oh Mandy, that sounds horrid. I hope you get a good night’s sleep. If you can’t get your doctor tomorrow, try a pharmacist as Ann suggests but if they can’t help then you could try ringing 111. We have found them to be helpful with advice or getting a doctor to ring us back and twice they have got us an appointment with a doctor, though admittedly they were both out-of-hours appointments. I’ll be sending good luck vibes to Jake in the morning.

The day has flown by again and I don’t have time to write more now. OH fried something in oil and I think more ended up on the stove than in the pan. He cleaned the pan but didn’t even notice the state of the cooker so I am going to clean the hob now.

Hope that you can have a good nights sleep tonight Mandy. It sounds horrible and should be sorted. If you can’t get hold of a doctor could the pharmacist help you?

No not dizzy Anng it's an awful feeling ,like someone using a dimmer switch, everything goes quite black and you feel like your going then your back ,I feel really drained and tired after .
There's a lot of side effects with these tablets and I think doubling the dose just doesn't suit me ,I've tried to persiver with them hoping my body would take to them but I don't think it's going too , I have my tablet review next month and hoped with the indegestion and tiredness I could go till then but not after this morning.

Haven't heard from the doctor so I'll have to see if I can get through in the morning , this new system at our doctors isn't working at all everyone's complaining about it .

AnninGlos Report 25 Feb 2026 15:38

when you say you felt faint Mandy, do you actually mean dizzy? iif so, did you turn your hear suddenly while lying down. I have to be careful not to move my head quickly even while lying down.

I shall have to send him good luck as soon as I wake up then,

did a bit of admin on here and then chatted via email to my sister. Then I walked down to post some letters, that was about a third of a mile there and back. Came back and did a bit more on here, trying to organise for Jake to do some jobs in March. Then did 40 minutes in the garden, weeding, so many weeds out there but I couldn't go on longer than that, also cut back a bit more of the 2 hardy fuchsias. And I noticed down the garde a definite sign of a hedgehog making its way down the gareden, hope it is tucked up when the weather turns cold again. As it will.

Thank you Anng son has been and sorted it .

I had another of my feeling faint and bad in bed this morning so I rang the doctors and of course they were full to capacity but the lady in the call centre filled in a form and said someone will get back to me so I'm still waiting to hear , it just leaves me feeling so drained and tired.

Thank you for the wishes for Jake he called in with son this morning ,he has a lesson this afternoon then the test tomorrow at 7.15 keep all your fingers crossed for him .

If it is an Ipad Mandy try the following

Place two fingers on the floating keyboard.

Spread your fingers apart to enlarge the keyboard back to its full size, then let go.

You can also tap the More buttonnull, then tap Full to return to the default keyboard.

AnninGlos Report 25 Feb 2026 12:14

That is frustrating Mandy hope you get it fixed soon. In case you don't lots of luck to Jake for tomorrow.

Gwyn it must be rewarding watching them as they learn to put expressions in. I bet you get some funny ones as well.

Gwyn in Kent Report 25 Feb 2026 09:58

A beautiful morning here, so bright and sunny and according to the BBC weather forecaster, we may have an amazing sunset, in the south east due to the Sahara dust in the air.
That would be lovely :-D

Yes Mel, I was in school yesterday listening to readers. It's lovely when they grow in confidence and put more expression in, which most of them are doing now.
I have time to explain what words or expressions mean, so that helps them, I hope. They can easily read such things as 'making a mountain out of a molehill', but at 8 years old, they don't all know what it means.

Morning Anng and all,

Another bright morning here first thing but its clouded over a bit now hope that dos'nt mean more rain! Its 11 degrees and pc says getting colder on Friday.

Nothing planned for today so I may have a hoover and dust (the desk needs it) and go back to my miniatures.

I had written more but lost the lot and this is the only bit I had copied.

Thought to Mandy's family.

Annx its good oh is off one lot of eyedrops and continues to improve.

Vera hope oh is still getting better each day now. When do his tablets stop?

Gwyn are you back at school now half term is over?

AnninGlos Report 25 Feb 2026 08:42

Good morning all. 9 degrees, sun is shining and sky is pale blue. Might gear myself up to do a bit of weeding today. I did pull some from the pots yesterday but there are a lot of weeds taking over a couple of patches of garden.
Vera, that was convenient to get a lift to town, even one way helps. But what a pain over your prescription again. So another trip to the surgery for you.
But pleased that you had a lot of presents and cards. sometimes I think it is the cards are best. And I bet that little slip of paper from your OH was your favourite. that was thoughtful of him.
Ann that is good that OH can stop some of the eye drops, a bit less to do in the mornings.
Why did your sister's husband refuse to let her have her own family photos. Just being horrible I assume but that is sad.
Yes we got around and all those trips were in the 90s and after We never went abroad with the children. A lot of the Europe trips were because of T's travels with his job. Obviously we paid for my air fare and food but T's fares were on business and often you paid for the room which he had to have anyway. While he worked I could make my own way around. I would often be invited to lunch by the person from the firm he visited. It was more or less all legal. Quite a few of them were when he was self employed contracting after he retired.

Glad you had a lovely day Vera even if you did'nt get the one script you wanted.

I had a good go on the miniatures today and painted quite a lot. Some easy some not which took a ot of time. The sun shone all day and it got up to 15 degrees for a while.

I forgot to put the washing out so it went on the airer in the end. Thats the trouble when I get into mini mode everything else goes out the window. Its been dry all day and the chickens run has started to dry out a bit but I prefer loose mud as when I come out now I have platform wellies on its turned really sticky now.

Silly me there was I thinking today was Jake's test and you tell me its Thursday. Now will I remember that now??? Will someone remind me please?

Hope you all have a good night tonight with plenty of zzzzzzz's.

Sorry I am so late coming online to thank you all for your lovely cards and your birthday wishes. They are very much appreciated so thank you. I have been so lucky; everyone has been really kind. I’ve had about 20 cards and an e-card and I think there are a couple of cards still in the post. OH was fretting about not having anything for me but in amongst my unopened cards this morning was a folded piece of paper with birthday wishes and a loving message that he had written so that is on display with my cards. Friends have given me wine, hand wash and hand cream, a room diffuser, some gloves and a couple of nice hand towels and also £30 in cash. I’ll be using that to get a new lap tray. Son and dil sent a big bouquet which filled 2 vases and daughter sent flowers and chocs. With daughter’s there was a note saying that if we chose where we would like to go she will organize a mini break as a combined birthday present for myself and OH. Isn’t that a lovely idea? She did something similar last year and we had a lovely 3 days with her in Norfolk. As you can imagine I’ve spent quite a bit of time sending “thank you” messages or phoning my thanks to people.

This morning I had to go into town to get my meds and a friend who was driving through town en route to somewhere else was able to drop me off so I only had to get the bus back. I don’t know what is happening between our surgery and the chemist I use but they can’t seem to get their act together. Part of my script was handed to me in a stapled and stuck down bag and the girl went off to get the rest ready. While she was busy I attempted to open the bag to check what I had got. What a game of soldiers that was! Eventually I tore it open and checked what was in that bag. By then the girl had put together the rest of it and I then had to wait again till the pharmacist was free to check it. When I eventually got it I sort of felt the number of boxes through the bag and it seemed right so I left. I got back to the bus station in time to see my bus just driving away. Luckily it was only 40 minutes till the next one so I did a bit of shopping in Waitrose and wandered round Roys. By the time I got home it was nearly lunchtime so I didn’t look at my meds till after we had eaten and……..I bet you are ahead of me………there was 1 item missing, the same as last month. I have spare tablets of everything else but not of that one. I think it is our surgery causing the problem but I can’t work out what it is they are doing. Every time I speak to them about it they assure me they have it all sorted now, except they don’t. I’ll have to contact them yet again tomorrow.

I decided tonight I would have a nice meal even if I did have to cook it myself. I decided on a lemon and garlic chicken tray bake. I’ve made it a couple of times before and really enjoyed it but tonight I had a couple of interruptions while I was doing it so that it wasn’t as good as usual and the chicken was overcooked. First OH’s youngest sister rang to wish me happy birthday and find out how OH is doing and was on the phone for a long while. I had barely put the phone down when son rang and he chatted for a long while.

Tomorrow a friend is bringing her OH round and leaving him at our house so the 2 men can babysit each other and then taking me to the hotel in town for coffee and cake. It’s in a nice spot so we will be able to sit and look at the river and the meadows while we have our coffee.

I have read the posts and taken in all you had to say but I am going to come to a stop now as this is getting a bit long and my back is needing a bit of support with the pillows on the bed and some heat. It’s been a lovely day and is still very mild out so fingers crossed it will be as nice tomorrow. Night, night all, sleep tight.

Annx Report 24 Feb 2026 19:43

Well we are home from the hospital. When I went to fetch OH there was a mile long of stationary traffic down to the motorway in both directions which held me up. The potholes in the city are even worse than along the country roads and are in the middle of roads and cars were swerving about to avoid them. We were both glad to get home and get into our jimjams and relax. OH doesn't need to go back with the eye inflammation anymore and can reduce one of his eyedrops and stop the other. They said the rheumatology people work closely with their department and that if his treatment can go ahead it should reduce the eye flare ups as well. His other eye has worsened a little but is of no concern yet an d his sight is fine for driving which is good.

The only other thing I've got done today is order my meds and sort a bit of paperwork!

i expect your sister and great neice welcomed your support today Mandy, but it must have been upsetting for you all and hard to take in what's happened.

I thought Jake's test was on Thursday too AnnG. I've scanned most photos onto an external drive now, but there are a lot of OH's family that we haven't a clue who they are as well as some of my uncles and aunts! I wish I had a copy of the photo of my parent's wedding as they were both from big families and there must have been dad's relatives I never met on there, but my sisters ex took all the family photos and even my sister couldn't persuade him to let her have copies. I loved it in Austria with such lovely clear air and friendly people and all those geraniums on the balconies! My word AnnG you certainly got around didn't you.

Mel I noticed that the Chionodoxa I dug up and temporarily put in a wide pot last year are coming up. I hardly even watered them last year and assumed they'd died. The pink cyclamen under the arbour are all in flower too.Fancy the Asda van breaking down, but hopefully the chiller was still working till another driver could bring your order. I would have enjoyed an egg and tomato sandwich with one of your eggs. I like an egg and lettuce sandwich too.

Going back to travelling abroad I don’t really miss it now but I am glad we did it.
At least 16 visits to America and Canada. Then Cyprus, Madeira, Tenerife, Lanzarote, France, Germany, Austria, Holland, Switzerland, Spain not forgetting twice to Jersey.

I don’t miss foreign travel but I do miss suddenly taking off around UK. I suppose that would have happened anyway as we got older.

AnninGlos Report 24 Feb 2026 15:45

Mel I tthink Jake's test is Thursday, unless I read it wrongly.

I have been sorting and tidying up a few old photo albums of my dad's One is beyond repair. the photos are fine (although small) but the pages are made of a sort of thick paper and one book the pages are crumbling. I managed to more or less slavage and tidy up the two albums of his south american cruise on HS Durban but it is family photos in the other two so they willhave to be handled with care. I do wish he had labelled all the family photos though. some are labelled and some not.

then a spent about 20 minutes out in the gardenpulling up weeds out of pots. Looks like one sedum has not survived, I think it was too wet it looks as though it has rotted.

Suns been out all morning and is still out and its 14 degrees and says its a record high.

Asda rang me and my delivery lorry had broken down so he asked if it would be ok if the order came later. I said yes as I was in all day and it did'nt come much later at all. One of the usual drivers I have and he said he would be glad to get home tonight as he had had three extra deliveries to do.

Iv'e been painting all morning and have just stopped for something to eat, a nice homelaid egg and tomato sandwich.

Hope the suns out for Vera on her birthday.
