Access to trees

Hi there
I have shared my tree with another member, and she has done the same with me. The problem is that when I clicked on her tree, every thing is hidden, and she says it is the same with mine. I checked my personal settings and I have NOT got the "hide living relatives" button ticked. I think the person I am in contact with is fairly new to Genes, I have written to her and explained where to find the button just in case she has got hers ticked, I haven't heard back from her yet. If she has got hers ticked, would that stop her from seeing my tree?
I am able to access other trees OK, and they with mine. Any solution?

If you have not Selected hide living relatives she will be able to see all your tree unless of course there is a bug on GR. However I always hide living members because of identity theft. I am sure my credit card would not be very sympathetic to any claims if I had recent history for all and sundry to see.

GR will hide for 120 years so anything further back you should be able to see.

Hi Tooty, it is only happening with this one particular member, I can view all other trees fine, and as yet I have not heard from any of the peolple I have shared with to say that they can't see names on my tree.
It's a bit puzzling to say the least.

I would think that others have not ticked hide living relatives but this one in particular has or GR has got a glitch.

Thanks Tooty, I will wait to hear from her to see if she has got it ticked or not.

Just checked a handful of trees and all seem to be working ok. The odd ones that do have the Hidden option turned on display the message "Relation has been hidden by the tree owner" in the details section for the person concerned.

Incidentally there isn't a tick box, it is a very definite yes / no selection.

There are often complaints on here about the 'Can I view your tree' messages but I have problems with the same on Ancestry.

I sometimes contact owners of private trees, They will agree there is a connection and ask to see my tree without giving access to theirs. I always apologise and say I keep mine off line - and that is the last I hear.

On Genes I find we usually enter into a 'conversation' or swop email addresses.
