Hi

Thanks for your post. I had a look at the census you mentioned but I don't think it's the same person. My Thomas would've been married 6 years by then and his wife was called Margaret b1835 and as far as I know there is no connection to Wrexham.

Thanks again
Kevin

Hi
I was wondering if someone would mind checking the 1861 census for me please?

My Great Great Great Grandparents Thomas Tuffy & Margaret Heston were married in Stourbridge, Worcestershire in 1855. They had a daughter Mary b1855 who died in 1857 also in Stourbridge. Thomas & Margaret were both born in Ireland. approx 1834 & 1835 respectively.

I have found Thomas Tuffy on the 1851 census for Stourbridge he is listed as Tommy Tuffy. I haven't found Margaret Heston on the 1851 census though, although it is possible that she may still have been in Ireland as I am not sure when either of them arrived in England.

I have successfully located them on all census's 1871 to 1891 although the surname spelling varies between Tuffy, Tuffey & Toughey. They had four other children as far as I know: John b circa 1862 Margaret b 1864 Thomas b 1866 and William b circa 1869. All were born in Stourbridge, Worcestershire.

I have asked for help on this before on another site and I did get a good response. Someone found a Thomas & Margaret Duffin or Dufferi (RG 9 /2065 page 9 of 38) in Stourbridge who they believed were my Great Great Great Grandparents. I am 60% sure that these are my ancestors but I'm not entirely convinced because they have another Daughter by the name of Catherine who I have never come across before. She was 7 in 1861 but I can find no record of a birth for a Catherine Tuffy and she never appears again & I can’t find a record of her death either. Thomas Duffin’s trade is listed as Brick layers labourer which is consistent with my ancestor Thomas Tuffy.

There is a fairly good chance that these are my ancestors, but I guess what I’m after really is a more experienced eye than mine to give me their opinion on whether or not it is likely, or if not then find them as I have spent a long time looking for an alternative and have not managed to do so.

Really hope someone can help
Thanks in advance
Kevin
