Until earlier today my family tree was 6 sheets of A4 downwards and I could print it out with no problems.
Having added some rellies it is now 8 pages downover but I cannot get it to print out beyond the 6 pages.
I've been into scaling and altered that but to no effect apart from adding lots of paper to my recycling pile. I've tried everythting I can think of to get it to print entire family tree but to no effect. Only about 260 relatives there so can anyone help me to print out tree in its entirety PLEASE??????

Trying to remember how I printed mine and it was about twelve pages across and nine pages down with about 400 rellies. I have printed it twice trying out different size fonts. I think what I did was tell the computer to print and then select the printing by page numbers. For example pages 1 to 5 first then pages 6 to ten etc etc. There is something in the back of my memory about the pages being coded like excel spreadsheets which made it easier to put them together in the correct order.

It may be your printer is not able to handle that much information at the one time. Breaking the task down into smaller lots will help that problem. So as I said print in smaller lots.

That does not sound like much help but I do know you can print out the entire tree for more than 260 rellies.

Having said all that..... may I ask why do yu wish to print it? I know I stuck mine all over a wall in the passage and then hardly ever looked at it again. In the end it just seemed an unnecessary waste of my time.

Ther is of course another option and that is to GEDCom your tree into a program like Legacy (free version). From that program you can print off the most amazing charts and graphs of your family as well as book type stories and other displays. Legacy is only one program that lives on your computer which does this, and I am sure there are others.

Hi Aunty Sherlock - I want to print it so that I can take to my brother to look at. Just so frustrating that it was ok yesterday but since I added 14 rellies today it won't play ball......

Have you thought about messaging GR and asking their advice. Click on help and the contact info is there somewhere. It might be that one of the rellies you added is causing a connection which messes up the pages. I dunno. Just seems strange that it would, now it won't. I'd ask them to have a look and let you know if there is a problem.

Hi everyone,
I am using a site called Family Tree which when first started a few years ago printed out about 70 members [1997 version]..
Having now completed [i hope] the complete tree[nearly 700 names] the font on A4 size will not allow more than 9 pages.
This of course, makes the printout so small that you need a telescope to read it!
Is there any way that i can download all this info which will enable me to print in a readable size for a wall chart and distribution to relations.
Would like to get this sorted as it has taken a very long time in preparation and layout and the thought of redoing all of this is doing my head in!
Await some help please.
Regards.
Michael.

the last time I printed my FTM tree. it asked for 68-ish A4 pages,
however the pages that had nothing on were left blank, and the result was about 47 pages of tree
(that was version 11)

Hi again,
Further to my last contact the Family Tree that i have been working with is not on Ancestry but a separate site named FTEXT[G.S.Publishing] FT2 1997 edition.
This produces a layout in landscape design which is ideal as you can follow it down bit by bit.
It has been mentioned that using Legacy one must enter the latest relative and work back.
Not a good idea as the latest entries are listed as living Grouts[name unknown].
Is it not possible to descend from the earliest and have the same layout. in landscape i.e a complete copy of the complete tree.
Await your views on this .
Regards.
Michael.

AuntySherlock
i have used Gedcom for all my families and now have them in separate folders by surname. In fact i am so pleased with them that OH yesterday bought me a new book case so that I can store them alphabetic order.

Michael, have you tried using Gedcom?

PS, I should also have said that using Gedcom as described above I downloaded nearly two thousand people.
