Helen hopefully you will get answers, I love the smell of apple mint but when I grew I wasn't really a cook. (lived on a boat) now I would have played with the garden . |

I've got apple mint, peppermint and ordinary mint growning in my herb garden now. had to chop the apple back the other day as it was growing like mad. Anybody got any ideas what to do with the apple mint? any recipies greatly received. |

Ann that is what I thought about it, it doesn't seed and I read that as it wouldn't keep growing each year (wasn't sure) ( I have already put call out for apple mint aswell ) .....there is also a spearmint that grows well. |

I grew it last year, same as ordinary mint, apple mint ets in pots. However it seemed to disappear after the hard winter so not sure if it would normally come up each year or if it is best treated as an annual. |

lol Julia I am thinking that the Alpine not only has white flowers but also has white leaves ...some-one correct me if I am wrong. I think it would be an interesting contrast to some dishes with mint (that's if it tastes the same). |

Uzzi, you should have posted this earlier, and I could have looked in my garden centre for this. Went to garden centre this morning, and said to OH, I don't need to go down and look at the herbs. Now I wished I had,and looked at the Alpine Mint. |

Ann .....come back was it easy to grow and does it grow like normal mint, ie. on a takeover bid if you let it . Or does it die off once used ? |

I saw on a cookery programme to decorate chocolate mousse with chocolate mint. I have grown it before but not got any at the moment. |

Okay so I'm not a great gardener, it took reading another thread for me to realise that I have a whole load of house leeks. |
