Thank you all of you.

I met up with my lad around 2pm after I had been to the interment of the ashes of my late cousin's wife, in with his now in their local churchyard.
I even managed to get up in time to be there by 11 am, or would have been except for a local school having a boot sale and therefore cars coming out of the school gates every few minutes causing huge tailbacks.

I hurried up the path to the church after parking the car, and my skirt almost fell down, it has a drawstring waist band and the tie had come undone lol
When I got in the church the service hadn't started, because the organ wouldn't work and they had been trying to sort it out. After a bit of a delay they decided they would go ahead without it But Praise my Soul and Guide me O Thou Great Redeemer don't sound so powerful with just the voices of the congregation and the vicar would say we will sing..... and start singing before we had time to stand up and take a breath! It made me smile tho as my cousin was always a bit of a splutterguts as my Mum called him lol so the sort of thing he would have done.
There were lots of people there and the son a very tall broad man of about 55 talked about his Mum and some of their childhood, and adulthood memories, which were heartwarming to hear. My cousin and his wife were very good people, John a splutterguts, and Stella a warm friendly housewife and mother who did a lot for charity and helped many people so she made a good mark on the world.
After the interment of the ashes in the churchyard, with the stone mason standing by to replace the newly adapted headstone, we went to a local pub for refreshments and I was able to renew my acquaintance with some family members I had met before but not seen for years and it was lovely. Both the son and the daughter and their spouses and relatives were really lovely people and have said I am to go and visit them if I want, and we will keep in touch more than already, with just the one contact between us. I am so glad I went, there were family photos with my parents on too and it was just lovely to spend that time with them and acknowledge John and Stella, as I had missed John's funeral in 2007, when I was already in Malta when he died.

Guy liked his small gifts I got him, and the money I and o.h. gave him, and we had a wander round the city for a while, looking in charity shops, as he is looking for a particular kind of suit, for his friend's wedding, they are to wear retro clothing. Then we drove out of the city as it was chaotic with all the floats for the Lord Mayor's Procession whcih we have watched so many times over the years - he was born on the day of the procession the first year so it was always held close to his birthday from then on and he loved it when he was small. Roads were closed off so as he lives in that area where it starts we had a job getting away but managed it and found a nice pub which did meals and we ate there and had a chat and then I dropped him back near his home to get ready to meet his friends. Hope he ate enough to soak up some of the beer so he doesn't get too drunk lol although he was hoping the opposite lol

I love him to bits of course, and all day I kept thinking of Izzy's boy Ash and hoping she will have many birthday meals with her son in the years to come.

Our younger son was 28 earlier this year, and we wonder where the time has gone. A Happy Birthday to your son.

Have been thinking of Izzy and family, I don't suppose we will get an update if she is at the hospital. Can't imagine how they are all feeling, a terrible time for them,

28 years ago today I was the proud, stunned, tired Mum of a baby boy just 5 hrs old. I don't know where those years have gone, but bearing in mind Izzy's devastating news on Chat, I am counting my blessings today as I help my lad celebrate his birthday. May he have a better year this year than the last few, and may he stay safe and well.
