How do you politely tell someone they've got their

Hi everyone, just got on the boards after being on hol for the past few weeks, - so lots to catch up on. I've noticed that on two peoples fam. trees they've got the wrong info - dates of birth of my relies, how can I explain nicely that they've got the dates wrong without offending them? In one the relie has been bapt. before her was born!!

Would depend on home much contact I had previously had with them , if a lot, I would just say something along the lines of 'such and such was born -/-/-- thought you'd like the exact date :)) "

but then again I use my tree on here just if i want to add something on quickly... for instance I know some of the deaths I have put on are a year or two out, but I needed to put something in and didn't have the paperwork to hand... it is something I will 'tidy up' at the end :)

Just tell them.

I was very grateful when someone pointed out a mistake on my tree. Frustrating having to unpick and re-sort that line but I'm glad he helped.

If they've just copied the info incorrectly and don't amend it fairly soon then perhaps they are not taking this too seriously in which case be careful what else you share ... it's so annoying to see mistakes spread far and wide.

I agree.
Just tell them, after all you are not being offensive, you are being helpful.

I have a few mistakes in my tree. I put them there myself.
They were hard searched for but correcting them is so difficult that I have left them.

It is very hard to alter a mistake on GR unless you delete all the children and start again. TOO MANY children in my tree.
If anyone asks to see it, I always tell them that there are mistakes.

Go on, tell her, she wont mind.

Many thanks for your helpful replies, I'm often in contact with one person, as we've found we're quite close relies, the other is quite a distant relie, but hopefully won't mind me pointing out his error. Many thanks again.
