We have been having Strawberries, Raspberries and Beetroot from the allotment of OH, for a couple of weeks now. But last night's dinner was almost entirely from there. We had the first New Potatoes, Carrots and Broad Beans. I served these with bacon cured in black treacle, from the local Farm Shop. Yum, yum

Reminds me of the time when I ate loads and loads of Beetroot for a meal once, and it turned everything red, scared the living daylights out of me, I thought I was having a miscarriage. !!!!!.

Lovely Julia.
I can't match you ,but we have had new potatoes,dwarf beans and peas so far.
Leeks ,carrots and runners still to come.Lots of cucumbers too.

We've had potatoes,french beans, courgettes, carrots (baby ones) lettuce tomatoes and raspberries. Only a small amount of each as grown in containers but much appreciated.

I know you shouldn't eat the green parts of potatoes but does anyone know why some of our new potatoes were partly green?

He bought me up a cabbage today for tinights dinner.
Isn't it great when the fresh produce starts to appear.

Edited to say that here in Derbyshire we are always about 3/4 weeks behind our southern counterparts.

Best food in the world isn't it.

We had salad this evening , two types of lettuce , spring onions ( but they where a bit on the large side and made me eyes water ...lol ) , fresh beetroot and new potatoes , all off our allotment .

I'm seeing Broad beans and peas in my sleep ( having shelled so many over the past week or so ) .

OH has also make two lot's of strawberry jam ( but has run out of pots now ....lol ) .

Can't wait for the sweetcorn , they are the best looking plants I've grown all the years we've been at it : ))

The green bits on potatoes I always thought was because the light had got to them.

Hello Julia,
isnt lovely to have your own veg and fruit .
I have had loads of blackcurrants this year and raspberries as well, still picking the raspberries lol, OH said that if i'm not carefull he'll turn into one .
I have also got beetroot this year as well as spring onions and as someone has said carrots to come, i also planted a few peppers this year but nothing so far , had some nice potatoes too . i'm waiting now for my runner beans i did plant some peas but i didnt get very many at all .
