THE END OF THE WORLD
Skeeter Davis - 1964

Why does the sun go on shining
Why does the sea rush to shore
Don't they know it's the end of the world
'Cause you don't love me any more

Why do the birds go on singing
Why do the stars glow above
Don't they know it's the end of the world
It ended when I lost your love

I wake up in the morning and I wonder
Why everything's the same as it was
I can't understand, no, I can't understand
How life goes on the way it does

Why does my heart go on beating
Why do these eyes of mine cry
Don't they know it's the end of the world
It ended when you said goodbye

Why does my heart go on beating
Why do these eyes of mine cry
Don't they know it's the end of the world
It ended when you said goodbye

The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore by the Walker Brothers.

I was 17 and totally besotted. Trouble was he was still carrying a torch for someone else. He drifted away from me after only 2 months. I remember playing this for ages after always with tears in my eyes. He wanted me back after about a year, but I didn't believe he would stay so said no. It took years to get over him.

Thorn In my Side by the Eurythmics always brings my ex-parner to mind .

And oddly enough , also " Nothing Compares to you " .....Sinead O' Conner has the same effect but that's because he hand wrote the lyrics and posted them to me , in a failed attempt to make me take him back .

This one , for several...

Chris de Burgh, Perfect Day

" if we should ever break up should we ever part
and your looking for some memory to ease your aching heart
forget about the hurtful things that lovers often say
and remember this perfect day,
yes its been a perfect day."

I loved "Hurt" by the Manhattens. Reminded me of my first boyfriend when we split.

I'll be loving you, always, and my heart is true, always, For a man who was perfect for me, but married.

My friend has just broke up with her fella. She's over the moon and has wondered where her brain has been all these months....She's finally realised that after every bit of advice given to her by those that knew him better, she feels like she's just woke up and smelt the coffee. Anyway, reminds me of that song "breaking up is hard to do"..(or not in her case lol) by Neil Sedaka.

Do you have a song that reminds you of breaking up with a fella/girlfriend??
