Didn't I hear on the radio that some councillors in London have been given a pay rise - sorry 'increase in allowances'?
This is, apparently, because Cameron wants them to do more 'governmental type' work!!!
I've also noticed that the head honchos at Hampshire County Council (head honcho already earns - sorry receives- he certainly doesn't 'earn' it - over £250K) have been awarded (by themselves) a pay rise.
Me? I work for HCC and in the past 2 years have been 'regraded', from finance assistant to the lower pay grade of senior admin assistant. When I was a finance assistant, i was at the lower end of the grade and could get a pay rise - ow I'm at the top of the grade and can't get a pay rise unless I do something 'exceptional'.
I've had had a pay cut and do more finance than I did before!!!
I'm so low paid now that I'll get the £250 tax relief!!!

Equality in employment my *rse!!

If the minimum wage keeps rising - I'll be changing jobs!

I'm so relieved that the deficit reduction we hear so much about is going to be achieved by reducing the number of people in the "over-paid, under-worked public sector" That'll be doctors, policemen and others in public service, then, will it?

Does anyone out there really think that this is the answer?
