Why on earth have they changed the format for going through Hotmatches? It was relatively easy to read and discard individual matches,. Now you are sent back to the beginning every time you delete. Or is it me !!??

No, Dave, It's not you, I have found the same thing.

As has been said many times before on here re GR - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
I've just spent ages going through hot matches with same problem

also you can get all the "new" matches on page one, but when you view one and go previous or next you DONT see the next NEW one you goto somewhere else in your list........I have asked them to look into that, but they suggest its something to do with the symbols in my screen name.

Nice[?] to know that it isn't just me this time. God bless us all with patience and GR with some better excuses.

Just another after thought. If GR can match 3 out of 4 wouldn't it save us all a whole lot of trouble if they managed to get the place of birth matched as an important start point. I mean Fred Bloggs 1800 in England is hardly going to be the same bloke in Australia is he?

When you have got all the new matches together and click delete after a name, you are given a name from the old mix . Ignore it and Click the "goback arrow" top lefthand corner and it will take you back to the New list.

The new pattern is rather irritating - at first I more than once wrote to the name of a possible to find I had already contacted them, there is no indication of this now.

after reading these threads I hope that the mysterious someone at GR is also reading it because it seems fairly obvious to me "That there be trouble at t'mill" and the natives are getting restless!

I find being sent back to the beginning each time extremely frustrating. Also when I click to say delete I hate being asked if I really meant what I said. Time wasting. It was much easier before why on earth do they meddle?

The reason you are asked to confirm before deleting, is that there were complaints from many members that if you deleted by mistake, there was no way of getting back. This is an improvement, surely?

As far as the rest of Hot Matches is concerned, nothing much seems to have changed, has it? , at least not in the past few months?

Oh, and place names are NOT Matched. This is debated ad nauseum every time Hot Matches is run, so about once a month. - it might be nice to have, but it isn't at the moment.

I prefer to do the searching for possible matches myself so unticked cold matches :-)

I don't like having to 'delete all other matches' from someone.
They may have matches in other branches of their tree!

I found this new addition a bit disconcerting as well Maggie. I did notice though that when I did delete an 'all contact from this person' I found at a later trawl the same person asking the same questions. Anyone else noticed this?

The place names issue - it was only a few months ago that Genes tried out somethiing with a name like "Super Hot Matches" - and there was instantly protest that the names they were getting were from contacts with whom they had already exchanged this very information! Genes did try! but I haven't seen any of these lately, they must have felt they couldn't please anybody!

paphosdave

paphosdave Report 20 Jul 2010 19:52

I forgot all about the 'super hot matches'. I got one that said I had a SHM with 20 matches yet it ignored the match I have with my 2nd cuz where there is 111 matches! I wondered how they calculated the SHM's at the time then I fell asleep....!

i have not had my 'hot matches' as yet so i cant comment on this, but what i have had is the 'trump card'.
i clicked on 'find out more' only to be taken to my messages, so i never found out who my ancestor was matched with!
usually it says that it is a new contact or one i already have been intouch with.
what's this all about? most confusing!

I dont want to delete ALL hot matches with someone , just the one I've looked at, not their entire tree.
How do we get the powers that be to reverse this backwards step ie if it aint broke, dont fix it !
