Just received 2 letters - exactly the same, from BT.
Apparently I've tried to sign up for online billing (I don't 'do' online billing) - but my e-mail address - which they quoted - was wrong.

Yes, it would be - it was one I used over 10 years ago - the firm no longer provides internet access!!!
Have sent a letter to BT (certainly not going to e-mail them) asking how safe their online billing is - and pointing out that the whole thing is rather sinister as I've just left them!!!

I think you may be right Hayley!
Just after I left them, I received a letter stating that I owed them £44 - same font as the one I got this morning.
A week later - in a larger font - I received a letter saying they would pay the £19 they owed ME into my account!!!

I did ask, on the letter I wrote this morning , if the letter was some sort of 'spam'.

I've had the same letter Maggie . The one about it being the wrong e-mail ( as I think my old e-mail account has been shut down ) .

I stopped being a BT customer well over a year ago !

But if it is a scam ......isn't it alarming that a third party has managed to get ones E-mail and home address ?

Thanks for putting this post up . I won't be contacting them .
