I can't believe it. Selfridges will be opening it's Christmas store on 2nd August. Am I getting old or is this getting silly now?

As long as I don't have to listen to any Christmas music on the radio I won't go near the store anyway.

*smugly* I put the link up earlier today.... so beat you in the Christmas rush, lolol.

Seriously, it is taking the biscuit, isn't it? The children won't even be back at school after the summer holiday... it hypes them, up, I think, too.

Love

Daff.... who loves Christmas, but when it starts to get dark at night... xxxxxxxx

In the 1980s i was a manageress in a wholesale warehouse.
Our christmas started in January, we tramped round the toy fair at the NEC for 4 days trying to pick toys/gifts that we thought would be the "must have" present.
July saw the first delivery of christmas cards by the pallet load.
August-the first of the christmas decorations arrived, again pallet loads.
From then on it was mayhem, and all this, as well as the normal day to day items.
(It sure is a strange feeling pricing crackers in August.)
Next came the adverts on TV-total nightmare, our phones went into meltdown, could we keep such and such item for Mrs so and so etc, after takig 40+ of these calls a day, one got a tadge fed up.
And the manufacturers were very crafty, the goods they promoted on TV most hadn't even been made, so we knew we were not going to get any in time for christmas, creating the all to familiar queue by doting mums and dads for the few bits that got through customs.
By December we were all to frazzled to enjoy the festivities. it took me at least ten years after i left the job to put up a strand of tinsel.............lol
