Maybe you should be learning to walk on your hands Jean. Sorry, couldn't resist. It must be frustrating for you.

I have lived a pretty normal life since my triple bypass in 2001, but had been slowing down mentally and physically lately, though GP says I have probably been building up to this for years. Anyway, the simple action of increasing my water tablets has made me feel so much more myself and the fog seems to have gone from my brain. I am on antibiotics again for the weeping leg which has not got any better, in fact is worse. Now told to put my feet up more often, on the other hand I should keep up the walking, do I cut myself in half?

Have tried to put an update, dont know if I have succeeded. Just wanted to say that the treatment is making a great difference, and I am able to lie on my left side for a while now, something I havent been able to do for years. The only drawback is that I am getting like a wrinkled prune with all the fluid being drawn off. lol

I had a silent heart attack - no pains, just had the feeling I'd swallowed a mint and then fainted. Had a by -pass and was ropey for a year afterwards.
The doctor said that anyone who tells you they get over these things quickly are lying.
Eight more years have passed and with medication, no troubles whatsoever.
Best wishes.

Happy days

Hi jean
My father has lived with heart failure for 10 years and my mother 2 years.
it takes a while to stabilise with medication but with current modern medical advancements its very managable.

Sorry to hear you are not well, and hope you soon start to feel better. The hospital/doctor's surgery should give you some booklets.
Enjoy the meet at Newport,
Kind regards, Liz

Many thanks to the large no of people to PM me, I am touched that you should care. I am feeling better today as I have peed for Britain today and yesterday! The pressure on my heart and lungs is already lessening and I feel more like myself. Just hope they can do something more about the weepy leg. I hoped that lessening the fluid in my body might have helped, but I can see from the bandages it has broken out in another place, BUT, bandages or no, I am going to the Newport meet on Saturday, so there!!

Oh Jean, I hope people can help you find the best way to cope, tips and info from people experiencing this or having a family member with the problem will be the best help.

Sending a gentle hug for you

Anyone out there who has personal experience of living with heart failure? I know all the answers the doctors can give me, but living with a condition is much different. Just been diagnosed after having apersistant cough since May. Have a weeping leg too, but no one made the connection!
