No, it's not a debate.

I've spent several hours over the last week visiting an elderly rellie in a stroke ward at our reasonably local hospital.

I couldn't be a nurse. All the nurses that we've come across - from A&E to one ward, then another ward, have been brilliant. How do they do it?

Say what you like about the NHS but don't ever disrespect the nurses - they're brilliant!

Yes - so far been completely impressed with all of them.

The only downside was A&E last Saturday night. Only three drunks in that night but I do wish one of the nurses had decked the noisy drunken young brat in the next door but one bed - he was a complete pain!

I would agree with you about the nurses I would say 99% of them are really good but when you and the ambulance crew are greeted by a staff nurse in A & E with the words "What did you bring her in for" you loose respect for some of them.

When they tell you something which is a lie and the other patients tell you what the nurse said wasnt true you begin to doubt them all. When they leave the bell out of reach of an elderly patient and ignore them when they ask for help, when they try and take a stool specimen from the toilet pan, every time I asked them about what was wrong with my mum they told me she had something different so you do wonder what has happend to the NHS.

This is the way they treated My Mum.

Only have praise for the nurses looking after my mum,
pallliative care nurses always talk to mum when washing her and stroke her hand ,
district nurses are so caring also, everyday when they come in to top up her driver they talk to her even though shes in a coma.
Mums doctor also comes in every other day and she is always praising us and is always honest with us.
The cancer nurse is so good, she asks what we want or think and has been their for my mum for months now and mum always looked forward to her visits.
So for us as a family we salute our NHS.
