hi i am having trouble trying to find out why Beatrice Alice Salter has Maria Salter formerly Dinsdale as her registered mother on her birth certificate yet it has Alice Salter as her mother on the 1911 censors???? this has been troubling me for some time now and just seem to hitting a brick wall so would really appreciate any help that anyone has to offer. Hi Christine,
It may be worth researching back to find Maria Dinsdale's birth details, maybe she was Maria Alice Dinsdale, and on the 1911 census just using her middle name? They could be the same person.
Alternatively her father may have married twice first to Maria and then to Alice, who she may have then called her 'Mother'.
Just two suggestions for you to look into, hope these help,

It would be worth checking how long the parents had been married on the 1911 census this may give a clue if its a second marriage or not

theres a couple of beatice Alice salter 's on the 1911 census including one who has a Maria with her , Are you sure you have the right family on the 1911? you dont give any dates or area so we can take a look and maybe advise further

thanks for the replies, it doesn't say how long they were married, just says that when Alice Salter died she was a widow
