The following poem was a favourite of my Mum's and I read it out at her funeral. I thought I would share it today.

I would like to dedicate this to everyone who has lost someone close especially Mummo. God bless.

Come dry your tears, smile again, love, I;m only a whisper away,
Near in the dusk of evening, Just out of sight through the day:
Watching you waking and sleeping, Hearing each prayer that you pray,
Sending my love to surround you, I'm only a whisper away,
Come dry your tears, smile again, love,
Remember the good times we've known,
Cherish the joy we discovered-
Love that was planted and grown
Your road may seem lonely ahead love,
And distant horizons look grey,
You won't be walking alone, dear
I'm only a whisper away.

What a lovely poem. I have kept a copy, hope you don't mind.

Of course not, Ann.
I used to buy my Mum the yearly "Friendship Book" by Francis Gay and she found it in there and fell in love with it and everytime a friend of her's lost someone close she would send them a copy. So when she died, I thought it a fitting tribute for me to read it out at her funeral.

What a lovely poem Helen and how nice for you to read it out as it was so special for your Mum.
I wonder if you would mind if I put it on the Remember Me thread of verses so that everyone who looks on there can share it, or would you prefer to add it with your reason why it's special?

I will nudge the thread on General and leave it to you for the mo

Oh Helen what a lovely poem it has made me cry!
My Mum died 5 years ago and my Dad 5 months ago. The grieving process has only just kicked in for me(unlike the theory in books on the grieving process)

Thank you for sharing it with us, it has such comforting words.
