That'll be Ivy then??????

Or there could be another older one who doesn't live at home any more.

Hi Choccy - or anyone with a 1911 subscription,

On the 1911 image (not transcript), what does it say about children born to that marriage?

Janice

Janice Report 28 Jul 2010 10:49

Hi Jill,

Have you followed Mary's siblings' lines to see if there are any illegitimate children or mothers who die? Wondering if Ivy is a sibling's child as it would probably be a same generation agreement, don't you think?

I agree you've got a toughie here!

her marriage certificate has her as ivy walton, father william walton living in wrexham and no info on death certificate. perhaps her name was changed when she was adopted but my dad thinks that she was someones child in the family of walton or wynne, no proof of this at all it's just a thought he has.

Janice Report 27 Jul 2010 20:15

Yes, thanks Choccy.
That blows that theory! And I've found that Ivy too now :-(.

All the Ivys seem to be accounted for in 1911. Wonder if the name was changed when she was adopted.

Don't think bmds are going to be useful here. A christening might help.

Jill, do you have Ivy's marriage cert? What does it say on that? Or does her death cert have an alternative name given?

Please can someone with findmypast look at Charles and Hannah Beavan in 1911 (aged 35) and see if Ivy Beavan is with them.

She's an Ivy of the right age who I cant account for and doesn't seem to have died.. Could be just mistranscribed.

Janice Report 27 Jul 2010 18:06

The Chester registration district covers a huge area - not just Chester itself. It goes into Cheshire as well as flintshire.

I'm not that far away Jill, but not lived here long...so when I think of Flints I think north Flints...which I had sort of assumed as they married in Chester.

Jill

Jill Report 27 Jul 2010 16:28

colemere is in ellesmere shropshire, mary was born there then the family moved to bradenheath hanmer flintshire, these days however hanmer is in shropshire so if the boundaries changed over the years maybe at one point colemere was under hanmer. her birth certificate says colemere ellesmere though.
confusing or what?

Rambling Report 27 Jul 2010 16:16

I'm a bit confused here! lol

Mary Emma is down as being born Colemere in 1911 which is Shropshire...

but Mary Emma with parents is born Hanmer Flintshire...

edit oh ok Hanmer just over Welsh border from Whitchurch ...got a bit lost on the map there lol......

Janice

Janice Report 27 Jul 2010 16:14

There are 3 Ivys born in Whitchurch in the 1901 of the right age. All of them are still with their parents in 1911.

Back to the drawing board!

Jill

Jill Report 27 Jul 2010 15:53

yes they married in 1893 at chester, on 1891 census mary was at home with her parents in bradenheath. ivy the daughter was my granny who we are pretty sure was "adopted" by mary and william and that is what i am trying to find out, if she was with them on 1901 census. as legal adoption didn't start until 1927 it makes things very hard when you come up against this sort of thing.
thanks all who are looking for me, i appreciate it
jill x

Janice Report 27 Jul 2010 15:52

Yes, whitchurch is Shropshire,
Can't find Ivy in 1901 either!
Lol she's got a good one here!!!!!

Choccy

Choccy Report 27 Jul 2010 15:41

here they are in 1911 - it doesn't seem to help !

I can't find a birth for the daughter. I believe Whitchurch is in Shropshire.
