Wow Uzzi how strange, we only live aprox 25 miles from Woodbridge and have seen The Moon and Sixpence on the web but never stayed on site. I think we should give it a try especially as OH and son are great Ipswich footy fans. They could watch the match and I could go shopping one weekend.

lol lol, an aviary, there are some nice sites through camping and caravaning clubs and independant sites.

The best ever was in the South of France where each pitch site had a little brick garden type shed on it and in this shed was a lovely clean shower, toilet and sink and a little pull out washing line to hang cossies etc on.
Each caravan or tent had their own individual shower shed with key so nobody else could use it.(it was the highlight of the holiday!!!!!!)

Dont know why they cannot do this in GB, I think sites abroad cater more for the camper than here.

Love it ...(must do I live on a campsite !)

We used to hire motorhomes in the UK for our hols from the pub. We would book the 1st stop but after that it was drive and see where we ended up.
used to have the fixed overcab beds but on one of the hols I gave up on that used it as storage and converted the lounge bed each night (easy to do)
Admittedly I used to plan the 2weeks roughly buying disposeable barbie's sausages from 'Simply sausages' (Soho) or 'superb sausages (Hove) along with ostrich steaks, kangaroo steaks and other bits and bobs, all frozen down.
Some great finds was Wells by Sea, booked in overnight and stayed 3 days.
The Moon and Sixpence at Woodbridge Suffolk, could have stayed there for the whole hol but did have somewhere to move onto.

Anyway loved the life that much that when we sold the pub we bought an RV packed our lives into it and set off for a year touring.

One day we will buy a small motorhome (OH does not like towing caravans much) and set off touring again on the just turn up idea, although we will leave our home behind next time.

There is something to be said for the 'all inclusive' (if you are doing it in Barbados but not Benidorm) but against it is the tied to one place even meals and evenings because it's been paid for. B&B's can be fun as you can tour about. BUT if you have animals camping is the way to go :-))

Happy camping all

edit to say we have even looked at a flash trailer tent which I wouldn't mind in this country but 2 dogs who are escape artists means we need fixed walls

Camping is NOT for me - tried it once, with a boyfriend and a crummy old tent. We didn't have much money so it was a cheap option. One site was next to an aviary and the birds woke us VERY early. Another site, the ladies showers were dreadful and there was no hot water. Never again!

We went to Santa Ponsa hadn't been for years
so booked into hotel. VW campers are great
and no better place to holiday now for us but
our own country, spent enough abroad for
years so time to go looking for oor ain folk.

Congratulations on your forthcomming Wedding Anniversary Emma. Where did you go to in Spain?
Our Daughter(19) went on her first all inclusive with friends to Salou a couple of weeks ago.

She had a great time but she is a teenager and was all caravanned out from the age of 7-17.

We stayed in Scotland many years ago in a lovely holiday home in the Highlands and of course went to see Lock Ness. Daughter was age 3 at the time and was convinced she would see nessie!

Glad to hear you have a new base for hols with less hastle.

Teresa OH and I decided to buy a fixed bed after
our hol from hell this year in Spain. As we have been
married 50years in August we treated ourselves to a
2bedroom one so hols now sorted for all time hurrah
no more airports etc. We live in Scotland and our one
is half an hour by car to get to it in the country, heaven.

Hi Emma that sounds like a good idea, a fixed bed would be heaven and now only have one child who comes with us so no more struggling to put up bunks for two of them.

I shouldnt be a grumpy old bat because we have visited some wonderful places in the British Isles which we pobably would not have seen without having the Caravan.

Im just looking out of the window with the rain and thinking that it beter dry up for hols to Devon in a couple of weeks.

We have been away in all weathers thoughout the School holiday year and I dont mind snow/rain/hail in Oct or Feb but just a little bit of pleasent weather in August would be nice.

Oh im moaning now....... must keep the fixed bed thought in my head and mention it to OH lol:)

Afternoon felow Campers, Caravaners and you lucky people with Motorhomes and fixed bed Caravans.

Do you love it, hate it, or just pack and go to your site of choice with a fixed grin and armful of all purpose clothing(ladies) and the Barbie and the entire contents of the local butchers shop(Men)

How I long for an all inclusive package, or bed and breakfast would be nice.

What are my fellow GR members views?
Am I the only one who thinks this way on the great camp sites of the British Isles. Drove for two days solid to get to the south of France(never again)
