seems we had no troubles back then, no worries over where ar shoes came from or ar next meal, times were hard with 9 mouths to feed and they weren't alwes happy but there really is summat about being a kid we just never regain. I remember going to school in the snow all us kids dressed the same ~ sliding down the bonk and rolling into the main road all wearing balaclavas Nan had knit out of coffee coloured wool and odd socks for gloves ~ I really miss being a kid x

We didnt have the pressure youngsters have now taking 10 GCSES and 3-5 A levels or the distractions of facebook, computor games etc.
We knew how to enjoy ourselves in the 60s and 70s and were experts in having nothing to do on boring Sundays.

My two say they are board.......they dont know the meaning of the word!!!

I had gloves on string they came from the co-op clothing dept.
Children and the Teachers always went to School in the snow and the School bus got through as well.

My most carefree time is when I left home to work away when I was 18, old enough to earn money and go out without parental constrictions. Happy days the eary 80s till I got a mortgage and was hard up again. lol

I dont miss it. Having to get up half an hour after I went to bed to do a milk round, go to school, get beaten by the teachers for falling asleep, come home and do the paper round, homework then bed for a few minutes.

No, I love being an adult. It's great.

lol Eldrick ..I don't miss it that much either, watching your parents destroy their marriage ain't easy, not having any say in anything the family does like a major move nah not nice.
Not having money worries was great but I was one of the lucky ones there.

No I prefer being an adult and at least having a say in my life.

I don't want to be a kid again.

As adults we tend to forget the worries we may have had during our childhood . We sometimes choose to remember it through rose tinted glasses, cherry picking the good memories & discarding the worries we once had.

Rather than go backwards, I like to enjoy the here & now watching my own kids grow up through good times .

Got a few days to go yet, just popped in to catch up on the news, gossip and weather.

Yes, I did have a hard time. But you can't change the past so onward and upwards is what I say!

wasn't much to view through rose-tinted in ar house but I didn't have to worry about much either I didn't have the responsibility of keeping a roof or buying dinner or any other adult thing times were bad but I still miss what we had back then x

I am renewing but have only been a member for 6 months.

Hope to catch up with you in the future, looks like a lot of members are leaving for a while. Have a good rest of the year. Your updates have made me smile through a difficult year but as you say onwards and upwards:)

I don't miss school PE lessons or being bullied ( the academic bits i did enjoy...and I can still do all of those) , or the pain of chilblains, or the knowledge that my family was struggling with illness and lack of money.

But I DO miss the people and my dog and cats, I miss paddling in streams and coming home with arms full of bluebells, climbing trees and swinging on my swing in the garden lying on my back to look up at the sky. I miss my mum's cuddles and the laughter in the house, and my brother and I asking "what's for tea"and saying in unison "not stew!" and eating it all anyway lol.

Me too, footie. I love life in the adult world too but sometimes miss what I remember as a really happy innocent childhood too, all the easy happiness before the difficulty of teenage years lol. Miss some of the people too x
