I think it was the Balmoral, when we went from Bournemouth to Portsmouth, and I ALWAYS take travel tablets :-)

Or it might have been the Waverley - http://www.waverleyexcursions.co.uk/.

The journey was lovely with brilliant weather. We travelled to Portsmouth to see the tall ships.

Yes l think the company is Waverley, thats where l will book it on the net.
They do quite a few trips, this particular one goes on upto Ilfracombe, l think Clevedon is far enough to start with:o)

Thanks Joy:o)

I went on the Waverley last friday down the Clyde in Scotland. We made a couple of stops to let people on and off and then we got off on the island of Bute for lunch. We had a brilliant time and the boat is beautiful. Annie

i've been on the Balmoral once or twice from Ilfracombe to Lundy and she rides quite well. I seem to remember she was built by VickersThornycroft on the south coast.
She is not a steamship though, she has the usual stinking diesel engines.

Wow, please do not mention the Waverley to me.LOL. I am filling up. This is the steamer of my childhood. I lived on the Isle of Bute as a child, and this ship would take us to the mainland. Because me Dad, was well known to the Captain, we were aloud to go into the engine room and watch the workings. The brass work was phenonimal. Glad I didn't have to clean it.
Some years later, about 30 years ago from now, the OH and I went for a holiday to the Isle of Bute, and I took a photo of the Waverley coming into dock, in Rothesey. About 6/7 years later, was there again when it came into port again. I took a photo again, and you would not believe that 6/7 years separate the two.
Such very happy, happy memories of my very different childhood. Will tell me Dad, it is still going strong.
Awe Bless

Do you know Jude, I didn't know the Waverly went from Lydney, after all the time we lived there too. Used to go for walks down by the docks.

Oh please Jude, tell me how your trip goes. Please plant a couple of kisses on board for me and me old war veteran Dad. He will be made up, when I tell him.
Going to root out those photo's of the Waverley and enlarge and frame. Got just the spot for it.
Blawt in an expression from around here, meaning to cry copoiusly. Have had a little weep in fond remembrance.
Please enjoy your trip

Thanks Jude. Now, now, please do not get me going on steam trains. Many, many happy memories of journies from Nottingham Midland Station at midnight for the train to Scotland.
