"all these years of duel language thown at you"

It's true! All my decades of working in so much French have done the same to me. There are common words I can't spell any more for the life of me. And double consonants are one of the problems, in fact.

Now if French was your second, there'd be an explanation for that "duel". ;)

I noticed a while back after i was ill, that my language and spelling had rather gone down the nick ( who ever he is) and have spent many months bemoaning the fact i can sometimes spell like an 8 year old. In particular, my penchant for double letters..
sticking the extra L ,S, D, or F in for example, it was getting quite embarrassing (ahem)

Then, the other day i wrote a note to my dad, who promptly pulled me up on my mis spelling of a certain word..
I told him my problem, and his answer?

Its because you live in Wales dear, all these years of duel language thown at you, road signs, books, leaflets letters, everything, is in Welsh and English and the Welsh language is so littered with double letters and hardly any vowels your own writing has become slightly mutated and merged..

Well begger me!!! I don't care any more, its quite funny..
Bore da! :)
