Thanks Shirley. Sister has a large cage which the little fellow is in. She keeps the door of it open but the door and windows of the room closed. |

I think she has acquired a house pet! he probably thinks she is his mum!! Personally I would keep him and let him decide what he wants to do .I would be devastated if I made him go and he got attacked by other wild birds |

I rescued sick and injured birds for over 20 years, I had an avairy so could release some back to the wild. However, if the little sparrow has been hand reared in the house without other birds around it , you are stuck with it. They make great pets and are very cheeky but don't keep it in a small cage and give it things to play with. I hand reared a little linnet in similar circumstances name sweetheart, he lived for over 7 years and his favourite occupation was to knock small ornements from the shelves with a tsweet as they fell. good luck I hope you have as much pleasure as I have from your feathered baby. Elaine. |

If your sister doesn't want the long term responsibility maybe a wildlife rescue place would take Jack in but it's great that this little bird was saved, well done to her. |

Hi Liz and Elaine, I think Jack will stay with my Sister somehow. He is very sweet and I will pass all advice from this thread on to her. |
