I'm in the West Midlands of England.
I didn't know my Dads Welsh ancestors, as his parents marriage ended when he was around seven. He was bought up by his maternal aunts.
Have only found out about them by doing family research.

Have managed though to find a third cousin from that side of the family.
So have now met a Welsh cousin, he is from Pontypridd.

I have only seen Usk on the internet, (so far) and yes, it does look wonderful.

Ah Monmouth ... Land of my Fathers!

One of my grandfathers was born in Usk ... Family had previously been living in or near Cardiff.
Maybe the spirits of my ancestors were watching what was going on!
Sounds wonderful, of course Wales did well in the European Athletics, maybe this was all a celebration of their success.

Hello....just got back, did'nt think we were going to watch them:o)

l am in Monmouth S Wales.

There were about 9 or 10 and they lit up in time to music. All were regular shape. It was quite impressive. Took a short video of them with my mobile, don't no how it will come out though.
We stood against a friends fence looking across a field full of sheep, bless em:o)), had'nt planned it but realised it would be the best view. They gave me a glass of wine and Vic and glass of guiness.... most welcome :o)
There has been entertainment down in the fields most of the day. Micra Lights, Kites, parachute jumps....we saw them from the back garden, 4 of them and the last 2 came down together until the last moment!! Bouncy castle etc, fun fair rides,. One field was full of cars and it was all FREE:o)

What with all that and the Athletics and Grand Prix....l'm really knackered now!

Nite nite

Sounds stupendous.
I wonder if they need special permission to fly at night?

What part of the world are you in Jude?

Jude
I bet they're quite a special sight.

Are they all 'normal' shapes?
I remember seeing Rupert Bear balloons and 'coffee jars' flying near Leeds Castle in Kent.

We have a display of hot air balloons in the fields along the road. Plus 4 parachute jumps earlier and kites being flown.
Balloons are all lit up:o)
