Many moons ago I did an evening class in thr county record office with a group of highly respectable,upstanding,mostly elderly people.

On the way home one night one of the ladies looked in her handbag and found she was taking home the visitors book.

Its not the first time things have been taken from library or record centres.

Sad to think people who are doing the same as us, take from us.

Bucks is the only county that has a complete, surviving, Posse Commitatus. It was really handy to nip into the local library for a quick name check for possible ancestors and their occupations. Well really - some local light-fingered, library lurker has nicked it!
I checked with the staff in case it had gone for re-binding, as it was a rather tatty copy - but no, it would appear thievery has occurred! Only of interest to family tree fanatics really and probably not very expensive to buy a copy. Shame on them, whoever they are! - Grrr!
